# Assuming you are considering getting news.answers
approval (which is
# easy, though you have to jump through a couple of
hoops), you'll run
# into propagation problems resulting from excessive cross
posting before
# you run into posting server limits. Some news servers
drop articles
# posted to more than a certain number of newsgroups on
the assumption
# that they must be spam. It's been rumored that on some
news servers
# this number is as low as five.
If I were a news admin (which, thankfully, I'm not), the
number would be lower than five. (Three seems like a
good maximum, meaning I'd bitbucket anything posted to
four
groups or more -- though if the software had the
capability
I'd make an exception for items posted to news.answers)
And there would be monitors in force to throw out anything
less than 60% alphanumeric as well as anything identical
to another post except for non-alphabetic characters
(except
in heirarchies dedicated to languages other than English).
Because, bandwidth is more expensive than processor time.
