Last week someone posted a message to the list about whether they
were sending e-mail to my actual e-mail address. I replied in
a private message that I often use a Reply-To: address, especially
in FAQ postings, because my e-mail user name is different than my
login name. So if the message has a Reply-To: address of rkiesling@mainmatter.com, then you can be reasonably certain the
e-mail message will arrive.
I didn't remember that a distant relative of mine, with the same
surname, now has the same Internet e-mail address as one of my former
addresses. I have asked her to forward mail on to me, though she
has not complied, no doubt because she catches a large volume of
the spam that is directed at the e-mail address.
Not that this has very much to do with fighting spam... perhaps the
good moderators would allow us to set the postings' From: addresses to uce@ftc.gov, as someone suggested here a while ago. :)
Thanks for your consideration,
Robert Kiesling
