Not long ago I tried to mail a comment to Robert Kiesling, using the
address in his From-header.
I got the following reply:
> Hi. This is the qmail-send program at pop1.triton.net.

It seems as people have started using faked From-headers also in
mailing-list posts. :-//
I guess this is a way to try to escape spammers, and despite me being
disturbed by Robert's appeared unwillingness to read what I had
intended for him, I have a great understanding for such measures.
The last years I've received about a dozen of spams each day to the
contact-adress on the FAQ I try to take care of. (Despite putting a
www/e-mail robot as the primary means to contact me and the cirka 60
contributors.) As the time to sort out and delete spams usually
required much more time than processing the serious questions and
messages really designated to me, I often postponed my checking of
that mail-box. In the end I've missed quite a few e-mails directed to
me personally, and a much greater number of serious questions which I
maybe ought to have directed further to any of the other contributors,
each time I paniced in front of, say, 600 unread e-mails.

By using spamcop.net I have again been able to process e-mails without
endangering my mental health. Astonishing is that the cost for this
has been a few cents per day, much less than I'd counted on, and
definitely much less than my earlier "manual" check for spam did cost
in terms of time _and_ money.

Maybe an advice also for other FAQ-maintainers?

My memory isn't good enough for noticing the difference between the
address stated in the From-header and in the body of Robert's e-mail
to this list. I guess I'm not the only one.
