The way I understand it, anyway, they are only posted to the groups
you say to post them to. Our resident net.dot.guru is on vacation now,
but when he gets back I'll ask for sure.
For example, I keep the FAQ for (and please don't laugh) alt.food.peeps
and when I actually do update it :) the header of the messages says
alt.food.peeps as the base group, but also alt.answers and news.answers.
I do read rec.answers and I know I've never seen my FAQ there.

I just checked alt.answers and a copy of the FAQ I posted a week or so
ago is there.
I use two news servers, one of them is a smaller private server, and
the other is news.earthlink.net (used to be radiks.net) and I know all
the whatever.answers groups are all there on both of them.

Let's face it, Usenet is becoming somewhat of an Old Boys (and Girls :)
Club. I have many friends who surf the web regularly, and I even
consider some to be computer literate and net savvy, but they are
totally clueless about such things as Usenet News. One friend of mine
actually said "oh, that's too hard" when I said to go into Netscape and
pull up "newsgroups". Sheesh!
Oh well, enough ranting for tonite. Hope everybody had happy holidays.
annie :)
