I maintain the COBOL FAQ with Microsoft Word2000 (originally with Word98). I
save it in "Word" format (with cross references as hyperlinks, table of
contents, etc). I then "save as web page" to get an HTML (actually now XML)
document which is posted on the web. I can use "save as" to save it as text -
when I get a request from an individual for a non-HTML/non-MS version.
What gets distributed (every 8 days) via the FAQ distributor is a "pointer" to
the HTML web site - with my email ID for additional requests.
P.S. With earlier versions, the "save as text" version did not look very good -
so I developed a COBOL program to reformat it. (COBOL being the "language of
choice" while maintaining the COBOL FAQ.)
