Where I mentioned the original Netcom to MindSpring "conversion" bandwidth
problem, I thought I would "pass along" the following message that I just
received.

Subject: Problems with Web Statistics

Dear Customer,

As you are probably aware, the web bandwidth statistics for the month of
September were incorrectly measured for your web site. The unfortunate
result was your site being made unavailable because the monthly bandwidth
limit was "exceeded." The problem manifested itself by erroneously
accounting for the amount of bandwidth used for the 12th through the 21st
of September.

We discovered the root of the problem when one of your fellow customers
posted a very detailed explanation of what he was observing in the
<netcom.general> newsgroup. Please understand that MindSpring recognizes
that this is the worst possible way for us to identify a service problem!

We have now regenerated all web statistics for Netcom web hosting accounts
for the month of September. As we turn your web page back on for this
month, we will credit your account for one month's service. If you
increased your account's bandwidth allocation because of this problem and
you don't feel your page will need the extra bandwidth, please call our
Customer Service department (1-800-719-4660) and they will reverse the
change and any affiliated charges. Before deciding to do this, please
check your web stats at
<https://secure.mindspring.net/acct-mgmt/webstats.html> to verify how much
bandwidth you actually have used this month.

We apologize for any and all of the trouble this has caused. We here at
MindSpring want your experiences with us to be positive. If there is
anything that you would like to see us do better, let us know.

Sincerely,

Jon Rietmulder
VP Network Services
MindSpring Enterprises, Inc.
