Hm, this leads to a related strategy. I've just added
URL: ftp://rtfm.mit.edu/pub/faqs/computer-security/most-common-qs
to my auxiliary headers.

(that's the place it gets stashed at rtfm, and the URL I use when citing it --
nothing special, but now obsolete copies in future will contain this URL)
