re: which language must be used in the U.S. of A?

Well "English" and "French" are Official in Canada, and I guess that
"Spanish" is Official in Mexico, s that gives all three as Official
"somewhere" in the NAFTA area. But then again the Metric system is
"Official" in the USA, but that has not stopped the use of older measuring
systems.

Since when has the US of A had an official language? I remember
learning in junior high school civics class that we don't have one.

Except for the state of Illinois, in which the offical language is
"American." Or is that just a myth as well?
