Just want to make a distinction:

This is very different from the sort of blatant promotion I've seen.
I don't want to point accusingly so i'll be as vague as possible.
There's a FAQ out there with "Where do I find a book on XXXX" where
XXXX is the subject of the FAQ and *SHBANG* two nice piccies appear
with links to amazons and a comfy "buy this book by the author of
the FAQ." A list of other books is kept at the end of the FAQ.

Your situation seems very different from that.
