Well, it strikes me as just about exactly as inappropriate as dropping FAQs
because they're widely crossposted, considered as a response to spammers.

Unfortunately, the inappropriateness of it hasn't stopped news servers from
doing it. I suspect if this idea that "Supersedes: is used by newsgroup
vandals" idea gets wide currency, the same thing will happen and
Supersedes: will become useless.
