I just keep my FAQ written up in a text file with the necessary
headers (primary and secondary) attached. Then, when I want to post
it, I copy it to the clipboard, telnet to my local newsserver on the
NNTP port, number 119 ("telnet news.someisp.com 119"), and post
the message manually. It's really quite simple, unless your ISP runs
a news server that does some sort of funky login or authentication
stuff.

When you get connected, type "POST" (without the quotes -- some
servers will require that in all caps) and hit Enter. This should
get you some sort of "okay" or "go ahead" response. At this point,
paste your article from the clipboard into telnet to send it to the
news server. When it finishes sending it, hit a dot "." on an empty
line and wait for the server to tell you that it received the article
successfully. Finally, type "QUIT" and hit Enter. This will close
the telnet connection.

All of this assumes a fairly intelligent telnet client -- I have no
idea if this works with the generally-braindead Microsoft client. If
it doesn't, get CRT or something else reasonably sane.

Good luck,
