Yes -
Over the years (decades) three distinct FAQ files have bene developed.
One on the newsgroup itself and two supporting FAQs. The one on beaches
has been archived for ages and is done by this Mathews fellow and is an
important contribution to the newsgroup.
The "legal" one that I am now speaking of has never been officially
archived at rtfm.mit.edu but has been posted informally to the group by
this person for almost as long, and is archived on his own space. He is
retiring from maintaining this important FAQ and I have offered to take
it over. Since the other two sets are already "official" I figured that
I would do similar with this one now and start using the FAQ server for
it once headers and all were approved by the FAQ checker bot.
There is a rather remote possibility that I may eventually take over
Mathews files but for now that is not a necessary concern.
