Josh,
You're missing the point: the text of the message is mine. I wrote it, I
hold the copyright on it, and your software has absolutely NO business
changing anything in it.
I personally don't see any problem adding a footer to the messages, as long
as it's very obvious that it was added by the software and is not part of
the original message.
But DO NOT modify what I write without my permission (and, no, I'm not
giving you permission): pass my messages to the list unaltered, or reject
them.
