You'll first need root privileges on a net-connected UNIX system that
gets a newsfeed of the group(s) you want to gateway. Then, it's a
not-too-difficult matter of getting the appropriate software (it's
called 'news2mail' or something like that, methinks), compiling it,
then installing it.

Lots of the comp.* groups are gatewayed in this manner. You might write
to the admin at one of these gateway sites and ask him how his setup
works; maybe you'll get some free advice.
