I can sympathize with the burned out FAQ maintainer. I've exhibited
behavior like this from time to time. (I'm sure we all have)

I can offer a few suggestions were helpful to me at some point in time.
Like a good murder, reading a FAQ requires opportunity and motive.

- Make sure FAQs and pointers to FAQs are clearly and explicitly
posted and advertised in prominent places. (for example early on
in READMEs to software packages, as 'intro' documents to new subscribers
to mailing lists, in other related FAQs). Give people no excuse
for having opportunity.
- Make the FAQ easy to read! Keep it current! Nobody wants to read
a FAQ which is inaccurate, or feels like it's out of date. Also nobody
wants to read a FAQ which is hard to read.
- Make honest and sincere offers to solicit input to FAQs. After a
while one gets tired writing every new entry yourself.

Lastly, try to find someone who can take up some of the burden of
updating and advertising the FAQ, if only for a little while. This
is probably the best immediate advice for a burned-out-FAQ maintainer.
