I'd equate the issue with the ability to cancel an article. You can
easily cancel an article from the news servers of the world. But how
many archives honor a cancel control message?

Compare the archives to a news server with a huge spool and a long
expire time. They're also keeping the articles around for a very long
time, but they still allow you to cancel.
