I was not any sort of expert on tattooing prior to the FAQ. But I read
voraciously, and (since I'm a librarian), I researched extensively.

I'm NOT doing it to pad my resume--"FAQ Maintainer for the Tattoo FAQ
and the 'Alternative Bodyart' (human branding and decorative
scarification!) FAQ" are ***NOT*** going to be easily accepted on my
professional librarian/information provider resume.

*HOWEVER*, I HAVE discovered a major perk!! Because "the Internet" is
such a buzz word, all the tattooists want to be friends with me! In 3
weeks when I go to Chicago to attend the American Library
Association's annual conference for example, I will be able to get a
tattoo from one of the country's best artists, who has an 18-month
wait list. Some of my 'net contacts pulled some strings for me and got
me an appointment a mere six weeks beforehand! I'd NEVER have been
able to do that if I wasn't maintaining the FAQ.
