How about this spin on things: is there any point in posting a flat
ASCII file version of an HTML FAQ which relies on crossreferences for
much of its utility?

Actually, I agree with Andras -- one of the reasons I use a macro processor to
generate both HTML and ASCII FAQs is that neither form is the correct "common"
source for both - and similarly, the ASCII generated by "save as" isn't always
what I want in a FAQ.
