FAQ disclaimers--should I bother?

Now that the copyright issue has just about been beaten to death, I'd like
to find out what we all (dis)agree about on disclaimer notices maintainers
occasionally put in their FAQs. For example, here's my disclaimer which
appears just before the copyright notice in the Graphics File Formats FAQ
(or will starting next month):

Subject: 2. Disclaimer

While every effort has been taken to insure the accuracy of the
information contained in this FAQ list compilation, the author and
contributors assume no responsibility for errors or omissions, or
for damages resulting from the use of the information contained
herein.

Am I really covering my butt from any potential legal hassels? Is this
paragraph really a big dog in my front yard, or just a cheesey tape
recording of a barking dog playing in my front hallway?
