Following on from my posting on copyright in the UK, I received a
draft copyright notice on Friday and it came with a disclaimer.
Since the UK service provider FAQ is basically a collection of
advertisements, accuracy is a big issue, which is why I make it
clear to the providers that they're responsible for their own
entries (although, originally, I wanted the entries to reflect
the providers and so I don't correct typos or tidy them up).

The solicitor asked me to retain capitalisation so that people
couldn't later claim to have not seen the "small print".

Note: this is a for a British FAQ.

DISCLAIMER

[Copyright holder*] TAKE CARE TO MAINTAIN THE ACCURACY OF THIS
COMPILATION BUT RELIES ON INFORMATION SUPPLIED TO IT AND CANNOT
ACCEPT ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR AND DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY FOR
ANY LOSS OR DAMAGE WHICH MAY ARISE FROM RELIANCE ON THE INFORMATION
IN THIS COMPILATION. Statements contained in the entries
describing services provided are made by the relevant provider
and not [copyright holder]. If you find anything which causes
you concern in this compilation, please let us know and we will
try to put it right.

* copyright will be held by my company, btw.

The other parts of the notice are on ownership and rights and a
limited license. If you're interested in what I ended up with,
mail me and I'll send you the notice once I have agreed the final
wording with my solicitor.

Incidentally, some other useful advice I got was that, if you are
concerned with copyright, you should be careful of distributing
your FAQ in media which splits it up, like on web pages. The advice
was to put "Extracted from [name of FAQ] Copyright [copyright holder]
[year of publication]. All rights reserved." on each extract
(although the year comes after "Copyright" in the US, I think).

I hope this helps.
