For what it's worth...

I maintain the Internet Mall and I'm delighted that a copy
of my work can be distributed through CDROM from Walnut
Creek CDROM. I find it incredibly unlikely that anyone else
is going to profit from my work on this project, but that's
not the point anyway: I volunteer the time for this project
for the good of the Internet community. It's an area that is
of interest to me - of great interest to others - and it's
not out-of-control work.

As Kent said earlier in this list, why ARE you people maintaining
your FAQ files? If it's for fun/interest/community service then
how can a version receiving further distribution - even if it's
obsolete - not be a good thing?

One comment that I'll add is that I think that ALL FAQ docs should
include some information on how to obtain a more recent version,
so if people DO find it in a book or on a CDROM disk (or in AOL
or CompuServe, and yes my FAQ is migrating off the Internet and
it's fine with me) they can figure out how to get a newer version.

Sheesh, if we all ask for a free copy of the CDROM disk, it's
going to be such a financial burden on Walnut Creek CDROM that
they'll probably just cancel the project, which would ultimately
be a disservice to the Internet community, in my view.

My two cents...
