The first few nights she will probably cry as if her little heart is broken.  You have to tough it out, just as people do when they teach their human infants to go to sleep by themselves.  Check some of the other threads here, I've advised more than one new chi owner.  Also, I suggest you invest in the book Chihuahuas for Dummies, which is the best book by far on the care and training of these adorable creatures.

All you need to do is put something that smells like you in the crate, like an old coat or a pair of slippers you wear. It will comfort her. This worked for both my little chihuahua and my black lab :-)

Put your chihuahua in your freaking bed! What are u?? Retarded or something? Its a baby! It does not like to sleep alone?!?! WOuld you want to sleep in a crate if u were 8 weeks old? I think not! Recognize this. My chihuahua is going on 2 and she still sleeps under the covers with me! U R MEAN AND SHOULD BE REPORTED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY IF YOU ARE LETTING SOMEONE SMALL AS A RAT SLEEP IN A CRATE ALL ALONE!!!!

my 13 week female chihuahua is fine in her crate at night, i keep in next to my bed and she setlles down almost straight away, But during the day if i put her in she goes mental and wont stop crying. shes cries immediately, Especially when i leave the room. I have tried putting something that smells of me in there, toys, treats etc but nothing works. I am worried she has separation anxiety and am not sure what i can do. All i read is that you have to leave them untill they stop but it doesnt seem like she ever will, infact shes crying now. can anyone help?

It was really hard for me to be tough with my liltte girl, she was crying for like 3 nights, finally, i put her in a crate in my bedroom, and she was fine, however, she was waking up at night to go to the washroom, so i had to take her to the pee pad. She relieved herself, and went back to sleep.

Finally, i got tired of these wake ups at night, so i put the crate to the puppy proffed room, and open the crate door... she  was sleeping fine, and she used the pee pad at night. I also recommend putting a ticking clock under her blanket- she will think that it is a heart beat, and she will sleep fine!
godd luck and sweet dreams!!

Here are somethings that might work.
1.if you have a small blanket thats yours put it in the crate.
2.Your puppy might be scared to be alone in the kennel so you may want to stay close to the kennel

To keep your chihuahua puppy from crying, you might want to see if her/his bed is to big. If it is, then you could make it smaller with a blanket. If that doesn't work it is probably because that she/he misses other warm bodies laying beside him/her. To solve this problem you can lay your chihuahua in it's bed, then lay a stuffed animal beside him/her. Also leave a radio or a t.v. on so your baby can hear comforting noises!

Play with it houres strait. dont let it sleep very much. Or mabe put it in bead with you and curl it up with a blanket next to you. Thats what I did with my bichon Friese.
