My sister was given a dollar with stars at the end of the number also.  I'm unsure what you mean by denomination.  But the letter at the beginning of the numbers are L.  It was made in 1999 and the numbers on back are 116.  It's in pretty good condition it only has a tiny rip at the bottom of the bill.

What do the stars mean?

It means you go to the grocery store and they give you an extra one, like tootsie pops. Anyway, the star signifies that it is a reprint of a bill with the same serial number. Something happened to the original and they reprinted the bill to keep the sequence.

Actually I also have a five dollar bill with stars at the end of them, I too was wondering what they were and how much money they are worth. The bill is from 1999 its from Richmond Federal Bank(E5) and the number on the back is 11. It looks a little old, not ripped just bent up. I would really like to know what these mean. Thanks

I also have a bill with a star at the end of the cereal number. The star means that that particular bill was damaged in some way, and was sent to the treasury from a bank. The star means that that bill has been reprinted.

I am wondering how rare these bills really are and if it's worth collecting them.

Dec. 28, 2006 I found a $20 bill in our till at the gas station i work at.  Dec. 31, 2006 I found a $5 bill in our till.  Jan. 1, 2007 I found 2 $10 bills and a $1 bill in our till.
