I try to open jpg file attachments and I get a message that says "cannot open component file", after I click OK, the screen goes black.  This has just started happening.  I did a system restore, as I used to be able to access these, but this has not helped.

Go to My Pictures
Right Click a photo
Select Choose program
Select program you would like to use e.g. Windows Picture and Fax Viewer
Tick Box for Always use this Program
