It is time to take a stand! Big business has ruined the once great United States of America. Since the day Ronald Reagan allowed big business to run overseas and fill their plants with underpaid employees, the people in the USA have been forced to take minimum wage jobs. Although big business claimed that this move would make the cost of products go down, instead we have seen everything in this country skyrocket in price. This leaves the little man, the true workers of the United States, unable to afford many of the luxuries he or she formerly had.
Many of us can barely afford to pay our rent, taxes, clothing, groceries, or other items needed to sustain life. Today the majority of us, who use to attend extracurricular activities, have been reduced to sitting at home watching television. Many become so involved in these television programs, until they are in a trance. Their entire lives revolve around who will be the next Survivor, Joe Millionaire, or what happened on tonight’s episode of Law and Order. Without the use of any drug, the rich man has figured out a way to keep the population asleep. Why do they want to keep us asleep? The answers simple, to keep us from knowing that the top 1% of America is ruling our lives.
Nearly 100 years ago, our countries citizens lived in poverty much the same way as we do today. Big business, such as the Rockefeller steel mills, owned nearly everything. The houses rented by the people and the grocery store that people shopped at was owned the big company. When people would get paid, they were still in debt the same day, all of their hard earned wages would go back to these multi-million dollar corporations to pay for their rent, food, and clothing. Safety precautions were ignored, and many died from work related injuries. In many households, children were put to work and if they did not do exactly as the company said, they were taken to a back room and spanked until they cooperated. Also the people of this era worked 12 hours a day except on Sunday, with no overtime pay and only a thirty minute lunch. That was until the workers stood up and declared they would have no more of this.
As I type this message, I hear a great debate growing. President Bush is attempting to take away the overtime pay for all workers. He claims that the overtime pay is hurting the business profit margin. Well I say this to his request, what are these companies going to do when people can no longer afford to buy their products. Although it might help reduce an item’s cost, no one will be able to afford it. The people of the USA has one of the lowest earned incomes in the world when one takes into consideration the inflation this country has experienced in the last thirty years. I believe that if we keep following down this path, it will not be long before slavery is reintroduced in this country. The only difference is that it will not only be black slaves, but a mixture of every poor person living.
It is time that we take a stand against this abusive behavior. I believe it is time as a nation that we sit down and tell the president and these big companies that we have had enough. On the first day of March 2004 until the end of May 2004, gather up all the supplies that you will need. Then during the months of June and July, do not go to work, and do not purchase any item from any corporation. If you have the land, grow a garden. Go fishing, hunting, or anything else you can think of to sustain life without putting another dime into big businesses pocket. If the entire country were to say they were tired of allowing big business to have their way, you might see a big change in our economy and our way of life.
While I am posting this message on every web site I can find, I can not spread the word around without your help. Please e-mail anyone you know and tell them of this message. Make a similar copy and post it on all the websites you visit. Above all, spread the word. For I am only a single person, and it will take everybody standing together to get this message to work. It will not be easy, but in the end, it would make the world a better place. If you would rather not get involved, and sit at home and watch television, don’t worry about it. When 2006 hits, you will not be able to watch television any longer without purchasing a two thousand dollar high definition television, then I know you will wake up and see the revolution coming.
Don’t wait take a stand now!!!
