I have a $1000 confederate paper money #297, May 28,1861, how do you tell if this is real,
one side is green and other is black.

Hi..well if this was real you would have a very valuble note worth thousands of dollars.I'm afraid yours is not real.Here's what to look first all these notes were hand signed usually in brown ink never printed signatures also they never used yellow parchament type paper.A lot of replicas are printed on this paper to look old.The key for me to know is the serial number that number is a common number used on these types of replicas.Here is a web site for checking out Fake Confederate notes.

I have the same thing but its all a dark peach color and looks very old

Hi, I have a bill of the exact picture of the site : http://www.crutchwilliams.com/BogusCSA_RoTx.html   : has.  It is # 297 .  It this also a fake.  the back has nothing you can see on it, but small burns on some of the bill.

I have the same 1000 note no.297 may 28 1961 but the back is not black..i have no idea if it is real or not...I checked out your site,pete, and i am still wondering if mine is real?? i would love to send you a photocopy of it..so you could take a look..send me an email address if you could
