Golden's are naturally hyper while still young.  They require much exercise and attention.  Not good to keep in a kennal, need to be part of the family.  Ours is only 4 months old and driving me crazy as she has attached herself to me...follows me everywhere and pushes at me going downstairs.  When I really need my space I give her a long-lasting treat.  It may take up to two years for her to calm down.  Hang in there, I know it is worth it.
