Hello, I was just wondering if anyone could answer a couple of questions for me?  My wife and I have a chance to get a blue heeler about a year old.  It is a female and has been kept in a pen quite a bit.  We have two small children and wonder if this would make a good family pet?  We live on a farm and are outside doing chores daily.  The dog doesn't apear to be house broken yet, will she be hard to train?  The dog also doesn't apear to be vicious in any way just high strung and nervous.
Thank you so much for any information you may have.

I am a professor at Oxford University. I don't think she would be hard to train, but might be a bit unsuitable with small children. If, however, you keep her outside for a while, she probably won't hurt them and should turn her into a perfect family pet! Beware, though, for some hard work for a month or so!
