This is for the people asking about the amount of pain with the tongue piercing. I had mine done last year when I was 14 (not for the skanky reason people seem to think girls get it for). I'm pretty wussy when it comes to pain...and needles but getting my tongue pierced hardly hurt, and it was for a split second anyway. The worst part of it was the 4 days after getting it pierced, eating was ridiculously painful, so I pretty much lived off slurpees and ice-cubes. I was really tempted to take it out on the first and second day, but after the 4th day everything got better and i was glad I hadn't. The tongue piercing heals really fast so I changed my tongue stud 10 days later problem-free. Anyways, I hope that helps some people.

Hey getting your labret pierced doesn't hurt at all. I was really scared it would and after i got it done i threw up because i was so nervous, but it is very rare to throwup. I've had mine done almost 3 weeks now and i'vnever had a problem with it. Smiling doesn't hurt,it just feels a little wierd, not after a couple days anyway. And when you eat at first it feels a little wierd but you get used to it. Alot of times i don't even know it is there. once you've had it for so long it doesn't feel right to take it out. It feels like your naked without it. If you want it done, i think you should go for it, it looks pretty good on mostly anybody if you have the right one and not some kind of crazy ball or something in it. Well, i think you should go for it. :)

Okay, well, Labrets DO normaly have a high risk of infection, I mean c'mon its in the mouth. I did my own labret with a darning needle, I do not recomend doing this. It didnt hurt for me, but I have a high tolerence for stuff like that. It might get red, thats healing. Clean it with sea sault, I didnt do this. I used rubbing achole and Mouth wash. If your worryed about getting jobs and stuff. There ARE clear rings you can get, I did and you cant even tell its peirced. Dont take it out, you can scar your lip, and or it might not go back in. Mine took me about 3 weeks to heal. Get it done by a good professional. If your really young and your parents say no, listen to them. Or state that it will heal, looks good on every one, you can get a small gague ring. Clear rings. Good luck to all.

im a profeional tattoo and body peircing artist.i have over 40 peircings,including the labret. people who say peircings dont hurt are lieing,of course it will hurt, its a sharp object tering your scin apart, there will be some pain. but also, it depends on how scweemish you are. if you tell ourself its going to hurt it will hurt worse, its always best to peice or tattoo when your calm,and to think good thoughts if your woried. the labret is pretty much the same level of pain as your lower ear, but, as it is a part of your mouth,some infection in the first stages of healing is expected. IF YOU REALY REALY WANT IT, YOU WONT BE SORRY AFTER YOU GET IT. YOU SOULD DO IT.AND If you deside you dont want it later , you can always take the thing out.

Hey, to everyone 18 or younger who wants to get their lip (or anything on your face, really) pierced, DON'T DO IT. Right away, anyway. You might not want to admit it, but your interests change a lot when you're young. I wanted to get a septum (nose) piercing when I was 15 and thought that it would be the coolest thing and I would love it forever, but only half a year later I decided that it would be a bad idea. And if I had gone through with it, I would've been stuck with a permanent hole or a gross scar in my face. I'm not saying piercings are bad, just make sure it's something you really truly want and it's not just a spontaneous sort of obsession that you decided you wanted only a month ago.

ON LABRETS, I pierced my own labret the other day, which some may say is dumb but if u don't have the cash, what you gotta do right? Anyway, it has turned out fine, a little swelling, but I did make some mistakes, so learn from them: 1. My needle wasn't sharp enough, and the inside skin of your mouyh is tough as nails, so I really had to force the last bit. 2. I decided to leave the needle in untill it healed, but pull it through so that it was just exposed outside. The I used plier's to cut out the excess on the inside. The first error was making it too short, and because it has expanded from swelling it's a constant battle to keep it in. So use something long enough! 3. I was so nervous about the pain (which ended up being a minor issue) that i wasn't thinking about the angle, so it is at a slight angle but it's no biggie for now. Just make sure it goes straight. 4. I was alone. Get a friend or someone you trust to be close by in case something goes wrong or you need help, but it is easier if they don't watch the actual piercing. I think, and I'm new to this, that doing yourself is fine if you keep it clean and sterilize everything you work with. I have friends who do it all the time and they would never go to a pro. Hmm. I got my tongue done when I was 13 and it didn't hurt at all. There are no nerve endings in the center of your tongue, hence the no-pain. You feel a slight pressure on your tongue but that's it. Then about 2 months ago I got my labret done and it hurt a little, but definately far less than any of my other piercings. I have 12 right now, including my nape (the worst one pain wise) and it's definately worth the bit of pain. As for healing times, oral piercings heal quicker than any others. My labret was completely healed in less than 2 months which is really good because I have to wear a retainer when I start the day shifts at my job tomorrow. I was on the overnight shifts, so facial piercings weren't a prob, but now I need to wear retainers for them. And it also depends on your body. Different people heal differently. I heal really fast, so piercings and tattoos aren't really an issue with me cuz they heal so quickly. And yea, I live in LA and I don't know anywhere DECENT around LA that will pierce ANYONE under 16 (with or without parental signatures). Not as of about 2 years ago. When I had mine done 7 years ago it wasn't a prob, but nowadays it is! Shady places will do it, but I personally would not risk my health for something like that. If you can't get a reputable studio to pierce you because you are too young, then you need to wait until one does.

hey, i got my labret 2 days ago.. worst pain ever hurt so bad lol... and after i couldnt eat or hardly speak.. it bled when i tryed to eat. my tongue hurt too.. it was worse when it started to swell..and i couldnt eat.. i had alot of ice and the swelling went down in a week or 2 my nose hurt a fair bit.. but went numb and i could touch it without anything that afternoon. if your scared of getting a piercing.. simple dont do it.. it will most likly hurt.. i mean its a piece of metal being shoved through a pice of skin and out the other side.. ofcourse there is going to be some kind of discomfort. it you want it bad enough..u wont sit here and whine about how ur scared.. u will just do it and get it over with.

Hi, My name is Skylar-Reska. Im 19 and I have a lebret piercing along with many others. For all you people who are worried about pain or whatever I will tell you some facts: Ok, does it hurt? yes I'm not going to lie. The pain is NOT unbareable you don't cry or pass out, but it has a small ammount of pain. No you cannot hide it from your parents unless you get the lebret stud and when your parents are around take the ball off. It looks a bit like you've got a black head. Lebret piercings can get annoying. When I got mine pierced it got really infected it wasn't really painful it just looked like a had a HUGE ulcer in my lip. I don't know about the place that you live. But any proper professional piercer should not let you get it done unless you are over 16 or have a parent with you. After you get it pierced you should leave it in for about 2 months. My boyfriend got his done and in the same day he had 2 take it out and put something else in there, it hurt a lot and it could damage tissue. Hope this answered any of your questions. I think you should all go ahead with getting it done, think logically 1 minute at the most of pain for a life time of happiness =) Cheers, Skylar xox

I've pierced both of my eyebrows by myself the first one with a piercing needle and the second one with a 16 gauge sewing needle, suprisingly the one with the sewing needle didnt bleed but the one with the piercing needle bled alot,as i said i did both by myself i couldnt do them really fast so i just worked my way through after numbing with some ice for 10-15 mins and they hurt a lil but it hurt less than getting your earlobes pierced...ive herd that eyebrow piercings are the least painful piercing there is, but it all depends on the piercing.ive also got my tongue pierced and both lobes done twice,along with both cartilages of my ear.my next piercing will either be my nose or my lip and im debating whether i want to do them myself or get them done professionaly,so far the two piercings ive dont on myself have turned out excellent and any piercing is worth getting.

i had my tounge done almost 3 years ago and i'm now 17. the best piercing ever. there was a small amount of pain but for me not nearly as bad as biting your tounge and healed up after a week although during that time eating is the hardest part and avoiding not biting it with your teeth. i've also had my ears pirced 3 times, my eyebrow done twice in 2 different places and the the webbing between your pointer finger and thumb, although the eyebrow and hand one's didnt work out, the tounge piercing has stuck by me now for 3 years. only problem i've had was the bar was too short and my tounge started to grow over it, SOLUTION: just buy a slightly longer bar or a bigger ball and your fine. definately think anyone considering a tounge piercing should get it done. the pain is bearable and very easy to take care of aslong as your committed (which you should be if your considering a piercing) hope i helped anyone out much love xoxo

I got a labret Monroe piercing. I love it.. i got it done 3 days ago, WHATEVER you do.. don't change the starter ball to a smaller stud until the swelling is down. lol i had a lil issue with that last night.. i was sick of the big ass one so i put a little diamond in.. it was fine until i went to sleep. Woke up in the morning and the diamond was half in my lip.. so i put my starter ball back in and am now waiting for the swelling to go down again so i can have my little one! SO JUST WAIT FOR THE SWELLING TO GO DOWN BEFORE CHANGING IT.. also, use either saline solution.. or you can make your own. Do 8 ounces of water and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. I even took a q-tip and rubbed the salt water around the piercing.. it stings but it helps. Do that twice a day (So it gets all the yellow crust off around it)... and Rinse with the watered down mouthwash.. Its looking great and im excited:) i also pierced my belly button by myself and have had that for 4 years! SO GOOD LUCK:) just take care of it is my advice

I had my labret pierced for a couple days. It didn't hurt at all, I didn't even realize she did it. Just a little pressure. My ink hurt alot worse. I recommend using sea salt with any piercing in the mouth. If you use mouth wash it kills the skin around the wound and it will take longer to heal. You cans also use lavender oil as it kills bacteria, relives pain, and promotes healing. If you want take two IBprophin right after it is done to help pain. As for passing out during this piercing, You wont. Unless you are really bothered by getting pierced in which case you shouldn't get any piercings anyway. Since I have had mine I have a little trouble eating because it gets caught on my teeth and gums. The most painful piercings are the industrial, nipples, any genitalia, and the nose. If you go into any piercing thinking it is gonna hurt then it will definitely hurt and you will probably pass out. Something I have done is to never ask how much it hurts because you will always psych yourself out. The human mind is a very powerful tool. You can think about being sick and develop a temperature or think about getting pierced in a painful area and pass out. Just think that there was a time when they operated without any painkiller. Have fun modding your body!!!

I'm thinking about getting my labret pierced for my 16th birthday/sometime soon, and I was wondering if there's a high risk of infection for that particular facial piercing.

i just got mine done today and when he did it the needle fell out and he re did it..that was no fun.but like i say about all peircings..it feels like a needle going through u...and if u clean the inside w/ mouth wash everytime u eat and the outside twice a day ull b fine

I am also planning on gettin my labret pierced and I think we'll both be fine. My only worry is that a lot of people say its the most painful piercing to get.

I am also planning on getting a labret done during this spring break. I heard that it's not very painful, but you can't listen to other people because everyone has a different threshold for pain. But I've heard from my friends who also have piercings that as long as you wash the area and use mouthwash (like you're SUPPOSED to, piercing or no piercing) you should be fine.

If you use that local anathestic stuff that the piercers use, it won't hurt a bit. Just don't get it on your tongue or your tongue will go numb for the next half an hour. I had mine done yesterday and it feels bloody great

I got my labret pierced less then a week ago. It doesn't hurt now and it only hurt a little when he pierced it (not nearly as much as my tongue hurt). I would say go for it. It is well worth it.

I had my lip peirced 4 days ago and it doesn't even hurt anymore. I was worried that mine would hurt A LOT but if you imagine the worst pain possible then it won't hurt at all. Glad to be of service! P.s. I'm 14 so you don't have to be 16 to get it done at Afflecks Palace in Manchester.

i also really want to get my lebret or my tounge peirced i am still deciding i am 16 and have a tattoo and a bellybutton peircin the only thing stopping me is my parents! any ideas how i can talk them round!!i really wanna get it done sooo badly!!!

I am 19. I got my tongue pierced 2 years ago. I was so scared because everyone said it was going to hurt so bad. But when I did it didn't hurt. I thought it would hurt when the needle went through but it just felt like a little crunch and it was over. I went and got a big glass of ice. I sucked on the ice constantly and it never swelled up so there was no pain. I;m going to go get my labret pierced on Friday. I'm a little worried about how it will affect my gums and my teeth though because me tongue piercing has caused a little soreness and sometimes some swelling on the back side of my gums. But I'm gonna go for it anyway. Hey, you can always take it out.

I am just 14 & my 'rents actually said i could have my tongue pierced :) they try 2 ruin my life with everything else, but oh well... i just wanted 2 know, how do they do it? and when they put a clamp on, does it really feel like a peg... THE PAIN?!

hi my name is dee and i was wondering how badly does it really hurt to get your labret peirced and when they first peirce it can i get a really small one do they differ in size's in any way? i need a small one cause my rents arent going to know i got it done and do u think its easy to hide it from my parent if i cover my mouth or something?!? scared of getting it pulled out! respond back someone please!

heya it'd be inmpossible to cover ur mouth every time u see them, but you can buy clear retainers on the net but you've gotta wait a little while before you can put them in so if i were you i'd have a chat with your piercer... i'm getting mine done in the 10 week holiday after my GCSEs cause my school's really strict on facial piercings and will be using a clear retainer afterwards

I had my labret pierced on Thursday 4/30/04 it doesn't hurt but my lip is pretty swollen. The piercing kind of sunk in the whole a little but i think it will be fine once the swelling goes down.

I'm getting my labret done, and I wanna know if I can change the stud during the healing process. If certain members of my family saw it, they'd kill me, literally. I just wanna know if I can take out the healing stud and put in a retainer at any time that I want during the healing period

getting your lip pierced is a good idea i havent seen anyone look bad with one pierced. ive gotten mine done befor and sports kinda forced me to take it out and it healed up. if you KNOW how to do it i mean really KNOW how to do it go for it yourself you can buy a pack of life 5 piercing needles but be carefull.i did mine myself and it looks GREAT. i saved myself like 40 bucks so im happy ( "dont worry , be happy") but professional is allways the best way to go if you want to talk about it I.M. or email me at tymannkta19@aol.com

i pierced my labret last week, had to take it out though because of my parents. whether it hurts or not completely depends on the person and how tolerant for pain you are. when i pierced my labret, it took me about 4 tries to get it right. and it bled like hell. hahah, oh well. it's sore cause iv'e got an ulcer right over it.. yeah, had to take it out and stuff... anyway, i'll do it again eventually. oh, and if you people are worried about "the pain", either forget it and get it done or never get a piercing done. i see so many people saying "i'll get it done ___" ... just do it or dont.

i got mine done almost a week ago. except its the top part or the monroe peircing. i have a friend who got it done in germany and i thought it looked so good. so i did it. it hurt i am not going to lie and i have had a kid and a tattoo!! but it only hurts until the needle is out. then you're fine!! after care is so simple too!!

i got a monroe piercing like a few weeks ago and that did not hurt at all.i did not feel no pain what so ever.i'mgetting my labret done very soon and i'mso looking forward to getting it done..so too whoever is scared of the pain of a piercing should not be scared it will be fine once it is all done and over with and think about how good u will look after....GO FOR IT!!!!

To everyone wondering about the pain involved with labret piercings: Sure it hurts...for about 1.5 seconds and then you're done (no more than getting a shot). And to those wondering about hiding it - you can't hide something silver on your face. However, a clear or flesh colored retainer hides it well (as long as you don't draw attention to it). Another option for hiding it is to take the ball off the front and pull it back a little bit (this works well - I did it everyday for like 2 weeks).
