I'm thinking about getting my labret pierced for my 16th birthday/sometime soon, and I was wondering if there's a high risk of infection for that particular facial piercing.

labret peircings r great i shud know i have 1 im 13 and ive had no infections so far...and its just pain free my advice is 2 definetly get it done

i just got mine done today and when he did it the needle fell out and he re did it..that was no fun.but like i say about all peircings..it feels like a needle going through u...and if u clean the inside w/ mouth wash everytime u eat and the outside twice a day ull b fine

I am also planning on gettin my labret pierced and I think we'll both be fine. My only worry is that a lot of people say its the most painful piercing to get.

I am also planning on getting a labret done during this spring break.  I heard that it's not very painful, but you can't listen to other people because everyone has a different threshold for pain.  But I've heard from my friends who also have piercings that as long as you wash the area and use mouthwash (like you're SUPPOSED to, piercing or no piercing) you should be fine.

im in desperation to get mine peirced too. the pain is the ONLY thing im worried about. it should only hurt for a little bit though.

If you use that local anathestic stuff that the piercers use, it won't hurt a bit.  Just don't get it on your tongue or your tongue will go numb for the next half an hour. I had mine done yesterday and it feels bloody great

I got my labret pierced less then a week ago. It doesn't hurt now and it only hurt a little when he pierced it (not nearly as much as my tongue hurt). I would say go for it. It is well worth it.

I had my lip peirced 4 days ago and it doesn't even hurt anymore. I was worried that mine would hurt A LOT but if you imagine the worst pain possible then it won't hurt at all. Glad to be of service!
P.s. I'm 14 so you don't have to be 16 to get it done at Afflecks Palace in Manchester.

i also really want to get my lebret or my tounge peirced i am still deciding i am 16 and have a tattoo and a bellybutton peircin the only thing stopping me is my parents! any ideas how i can talk them round!!i really wanna get it done sooo badly!!!

I am 19. I got my tongue pierced 2 years ago. I was so scared because everyone said it was going to hurt so bad. But when I did it didn't hurt. I thought it would hurt when the needle went through but it just felt like a little crunch and it was over. I went and got a big glass of ice. I sucked on the ice constantly and it never swelled up so there was no pain. I;m going to go get my labret pierced on Friday. I'm a little worried about how it will affect my gums and my teeth though because me tongue piercing has caused a little soreness and sometimes some swelling on the back side of my gums. But I'm gonna go for it anyway. Hey, you can always take it out.

I am just 14 & my 'rents actually said i could have my tongue pierced :) they try 2 ruin my life with everything else, but oh well... i just wanted 2 know, how do they do it? and when they put a clamp on, does it really feel like a peg... THE PAIN?!

hi my name is dee and i was wondering how badly does it really hurt to get your labret peirced and when they first peirce it can i get a really small one do they differ in size's in any way? i need a small one cause my rents arent going to know i got it done and do u think its easy to hide it from my parent if i cover my mouth or something?!? scared of getting it pulled out! respond back someone please!

heya it'd be inmpossible to cover ur mouth every time u see them, but you can buy clear retainers on the net but you've gotta wait a little while before you can put them in so if i were you i'd have a chat with your piercer... i'm getting mine done in the 10 week holiday after my GCSEs cause my school's really strict on facial piercings and will be using a clear retainer afterwards

I had my labret pierced on Thursday 4/30/04 it doesn't hurt but my lip is pretty swollen. The piercing kind of sunk in the whole a little but i think it will be fine once the swelling goes down.

i wanna get my labret pierced and im supposed to for my 17th which is a week away. i have a very low threshold for pain and im kinda worried that i might not go through with it what exactly does it feel like ive never gotten anything pierced before

well i got my labret pierced today and it wasent bad at all it was like a pinch. its kind of sore right now though cause my lip swelled up a bit. its worth it

I'm getting my labret done, and I wanna know if I can change the stud during the healing process.  If certain members of my family saw it, they'd kill me, literally. I just wanna know if I can take out the healing stud and put in a retainer at any time that I want during the healing period

getting your lip pierced is a good idea i havent seen anyone look bad with one pierced. ive gotten mine done befor and sports kinda forced me to take it out and it healed up. if you KNOW how to do it i mean really KNOW how to do it go for it yourself you can buy a pack of life 5 piercing needles but be carefull.i did mine myself and it looks GREAT. i saved myself like 40 bucks so im happy ( "dont worry , be happy") but professional is allways the best way to go if you want to talk about it I.M. or email me at tymannkta19@aol.com

i pierced my labret last week, had to take it out though because of my parents. whether it hurts or not completely depends on the person and how tolerant for pain you are. when i pierced my labret, it took me about 4 tries to get it right. and it bled like hell. hahah, oh well. it's sore cause iv'e got an ulcer right over it.. yeah, had to take it out and stuff... anyway, i'll do it again eventually. oh, and if you people are worried about "the pain", either forget it and get it done or never get a piercing done. i see so many people saying "i'll get it done ___" ... just do it or dont.

i got mine done almost a week ago. except its the top part or the monroe peircing. i have a friend who got it done in germany and i thought it looked so good. so i did it. it hurt i am not going to lie and i have had a kid and a tattoo!! but it only hurts until the needle is out. then you're fine!! after care is so simple too!!

i got a monroe piercing like a few weeks ago and that did not hurt at all.i did not feel no pain what so ever.i'mgetting my labret done very soon and i'mso looking forward to getting it done..so too whoever is scared of the pain of a piercing should not be scared it will be fine once it is all done and over with and think about how good u will look after....GO FOR IT!!!!

To everyone wondering about the pain involved with labret piercings: Sure it hurts...for about 1.5 seconds and then you're done (no more than getting a shot).  And to those wondering about hiding it - you can't hide something silver on your face.  However, a clear or flesh colored retainer hides it well (as long as you don't draw attention to it).  Another option for hiding it is to take the ball off the front and pull it back a little bit (this works well - I did it everyday for like 2 weeks).

i got my labret pierced 5 days ago.  it just felt like a little pin prick. they do it so fast.  no swelling at all.  anyway, i just removed it because it was so annoying.  your always aware of it.  eating is different and smiling sucks.  i' msure after a long time with it in i would have gotten used to it, but i have no patience.

gettin pierced is the easiest thing. im a total wuss when it comes to needles, but i had my labret pierced once, got that sore inside, not a pretty picture. if u take care of it like u should, then u'll be fine. and the tongue is also easy, "wink wink". after its completely healed, u can put a retainer in it, just be careful that it doesnt come out.

i am going to pierce mine tonite, im not worried about the pain(i have a high tolerance to pain) but im worried about it swelling and looking like crap, but its gotta be done sooner or later. im only 16 and my rents are gonna flip, but they really didnt say to much wene i did my eyebrow, so... wish me luck...

So, I recently got my labret pierced, and I have MANY piercings, I must say that my labret piercing really wasn't that bad, it hurt for a second when he put the needle in, otherwise I was ok, my tongue & eyebrow hurt alot more than my labret.

Hey,

Had my Labret and Eyebrow pierced. However my job said it was against company policy....so i left. I now find it impossible for employers to give me interviews. Is there an answer. I mean could i take them out during the interview... how long do each of the piercing take to heal up before i have to re-insert them. I mean i have had it in for about a month and a half, so well on the way onlong the healing process. Just really wondered if anyone could help me! Thanks

This is for the people asking about the amount of pain with the tongue piercing. I had mine done last year when I was 14 (not for the skanky reason people seem to think girls get it for). I'm pretty wussy when it comes to pain...and needles but getting my tongue pierced hardly hurt, and it was for a split second anyway. The worst part of it was the 4 days after getting it pierced, eating was ridiculously painful, so I pretty much lived off slurpees and ice-cubes. I was really tempted to take it out on the first and second day, but after the 4th day everything got better and i was glad I hadn't. The tongue piercing heals really fast so I changed my tongue stud 10 days later problem-free. Anyways, I hope that helps some people.

Hey.  In Canada you usually have to be 18 or older.  I have gotten a tattoo in almost every province and a peircing in B.C, Alberta, Sask, and Montreal.  Montreal is a little more leniant for age.  But everywhere else usually sticks to their policy.  Good luck trying to fake your age!!!

for a month and a half it will close up in about 10-15 minutes.i no this purely of experience. my best bet is to go to a piercer and get a retainer, GOOD LUCK!

Im 13 and im going to get a vertical labret done sometime i just never had a peircing that the peircer had to use a needle and i hope it will not hurt but im not afraid of pain so im going regardless of anything and some answers helped me predict what it would be like and it helped out alot im going to get mine done in 2 weeks and i hope it doesnt get infected..

I have my (madonna) pierced the side of your lip that didn't hurt I have had it done twice as I took it out b4 & it closed over. I want my labret pierced but think it might look funny having both piercings. WHAT DO U RECKON? I'm not scared at all I also have 4 tattoos. My nose hurt more than the side of my lip

if u get a  labret make sure the back is very small otherwise u will eat away at ur gums.. also if u get a ring it moves ur teeth

I'm  14 and love the band Zed - the bassist Ben has a labret and I think it looks so great, I want it to done so badly, there is such a variation of answers on here it's hard to get a good idea of what it's gonna take, my parents are SO against it, but when I'm 16 I'm going for it straight away. My mate wants her eyebrow done so bad :D

hey, i got mi labret perced last night.....it don't hert and i have to use a ering in it cuz i don't got a labret 1 yet...............lol mi boyfriend is getting me some..........but yea it's not swolen or infected so go for it!!!!!!!!!

In answer to the question of "I mean could i take them out during the interview... how long do each of the piercing take to heal up before i have to re-insert them" you cant take it out before its fully healed...i took my earlobe piercing out for about 2 or 3 minutes before it had healed to clean it, and when i tried to put the stud back in it had already grown back enough that i had to pierce it again to get it through. So no...no you can't take you labret out for a job interview before it has healed.

I have 16 piercings, 2 tattoos and a high pain tolerance. ive done all my peircings myself except for two. I have my ears done 11 times, 4 holes stretched, my web (under my tongue) my belly button 3 times and then now, my lip. it doesnt hurt at all. the only reason i found this is because i was told not to clean it with hydrogen peroxide or polysporin (like all my other peircings) so im looking for what im suposed to clean it with (other then mouthwash)my friend sais plain soap, without perfumes or dyes. but im wondering about aloe vera? anyway. good luck with it.   pain is beauty.

I'm 14 and i got mine pierces about a month and a half ago.It doesnt hurt any more than the ears do i.m.o. .Just make sure you take care of it with Listerine or some other mouthwash.For the first week or so you might get little crusties around it.Also try saline water on it.And about the job interiew thing,after i left my lip ring out for an hour,it was hard to put my 14g BCR in.

holy!!i'm 14 and i just got my labret pierced like 30 minutes ago!! didn't hurt at all! it hurt less then the nose did....it looks great and i totally recommend it to anyone if ur thinking about it....definatly worth it! i just cant eat anything ha-ha

Hey, I'm 13 and my mom is finaly letting me get my labret pierced! I've been waiting forever. The ONLY thing I'm afraid of is the pain. I mean I pierced my nose and my first holes myself, but i'mgetting my labret professionaly done. Make sure you know what you are doing, it hurt so bad, i wish i didn't do it. Mine got infected and had to go to the hospital and hassle.

I really want to get my lebret pierced but he only thing that is stopping me are my parents. They say they don't want me looking like a freak. They let me get my nose periced and that didn't hurt at all. I have a very high pain intolerance and i really really badly want my lebrt periced. im gonna have my lower lip peirced the day after tommaro and i am deafly scared of the pain i have had my nose peirced and it doesnt hurt that bad and im hoping that im not going to back out because its my x mas preasent does anyone have any advice for me?

Hey getting your labret pierced doesn't hurt at all.  I was really scared it would and after i got it done i threw up because i was so nervous, but it is very rare to throwup.  I've had mine done almost 3 weeks now and i'vnever had a problem with it.  Smiling doesn't hurt,it just feels a little wierd, not after a couple days anyway.  And when you eat at first it feels a little wierd but you get used to it.  Alot of times i don't even know it is there.  once you've had it for so long it doesn't feel right to take it out. It feels like your naked without it.  If you want it done, i think you should go for it, it looks pretty good on mostly anybody if you have the right one and not some kind of crazy ball or something in it.  Well, i think you should go for it. :)

I just had my labret pierced about 4 days ago and the thing is great i am already used to it and it quit hurting right after i had it done.  I have my ears done with 2 on each and that i think was more painfull than any of the body work that i have done other than the tats on my wrists.

I just had my labret pierced about 4 days ago and the thing is great i am already used to it and it quit hurting right after i had it done.  I have my ears done with 2 on each and that i think was more painfull than any of the body work that i have done other than the tats on my wrists.
