I have been running on a treadmill for awhile now because i just moved into a new area and it's not the safest place to run by yourself. My workout has been about 40 minutes starting at 7.0 and after ten minutes I move up to 7.1 then at 15 minutes i move up one tenth in intervals of 2.5 minutes. I was not getting tired so I made my first change of speed at 5 minutes and then continued to change my speed in the same intervals. however now i'mgetting board with the workout and don't feel i'mgetting any faster what other workouts can i do on the treadmill to get me faster. i use to be in cross country so i would like to get back to a 6:45ish mile or be able to run 7:15 miles for a long period of time.

I would start at 8 minutes/mile for the first 16 minutes.   Then I would put in 7 minutes/mile and when starting to feel you can't maintain in much longer, I would go back down to 8 minutes/mile until you recovered and then I would do it again following the same procedure until 35 minutes were up.   Then I'd warm down at the 8 minute/mile pace.

Do "Intervals" they not only build speed but, also build endurance!
