The Renaissance Religion is Protestant. During the Renaissance is when the Protestant reformation occured. This event is when people were protesting against the Catholic Religion for allowing "indulgences" in their churches. "Indulgences" are forgivenesses for sins that can be BOUGHT!!! That's right, bought. Sad, but true indulgences were being payed for and given out. This caused a huge problem for Martin Luther who lead the Protestant Reformation. Though he was Catholic, he spoke out against his Church. That's something you weren't supposed to do. His Church and the Church members looked down upon him. But he stuck up for what he believed in, which lead to the "Protestant" religion!!! Use This Information!!! Thanks!!!

hey yall! this is all REAL!!!!!!!! information that i gathered when i did my report. hope it helps those last minute people. feel free to copy. i don't care. renaissance religion was and still is considered very controversial. there were many disputes over what morals and ethics were to be included in the overall teachings of the church. so, from there, many people, like Martin Luther, created new religions and convinced people enough for them to follow. the original Roman catholic church were obviously unhappy, but with the number of followers of other religions increasing, not much could be done. one of the original causes of the whole spiel(i luv that word), was the catholic church forgiving sins for money. they believed that if one payed, one would be forgiven. many opposed this theory, so, new forms of religion were formed. the protestant reformation was this change of religion. people finally took a stand to the catholic church by basically telling them that their priorities were a little mixed up. i hope this will help some of you because before i did some research, i knew about as much as my cat. luv you all! except you cussers. goosey p.s. for more info, visit yahoo and type in renaissance religion. that should start you off with some basic information about religion. p.s.s. i am not saying i'm sided against catholics. just that they can be a little evil sometimes. just kidding. Alright, first of all, don't insult each other if someone is asking for help. Second of all, if you're going to call some one "stupid", then at least use proper spelling and grammar so you don't make a fool of yourself. Don't say "u r stupid" or "u r gay" because it just makes you look like a fop. Renaissance religion was at first Catholic, but then the Protestant Reformation came about because the Catholics were making rules that didn't abide by Biblical Scriptures... Ex. The Pope said that people weren't allowed to have protected sex because. The real reason that the Pope said this was because he wanted to have more people in the Catholic religion. Hey ppl, heres some info about religion in the renaissance. Martin Luther was a monk who opposed the church because it had become so corrupt over the years. The Pope and any other of the clergy men (churchy ppl) were the only ones that could read. The pope was actually the big decision maker, he even told kings what to do. So what happened was that the pope was trying to get money to build his big cathedrals, so he started preaching that you could forgive your sins through payment, which came to be known as "indulgences." The whole point was to be forgiven and to make you trip to heaven faster, you could also buy indulgences for dead ppl, so that their trip to heaven could be faster. So, because of this, many of the poor people payed money they didn't have in order to save their souls, while really the popes were building their cathedrals, and helping themselves. So martin luther came and wrote lots of letters to the pope trying to dissuade him. That didn't work. Meanwhile, the printing press had been invented, and ppl were learning how to read because there were more books around (b4 that, all books were hand made by monks - most of them bibles.) So Martin Luther published his letters to the public. Now, since ppl were able to read now (there weren't even schools then - lucky lol) they were being able to think for themselves more, which was dangerous for the dictating pope. So the people rebeled against the church. Martin Luther didn't set out trying to make a new religion or anything, he was just a devout monk who saw something wrong and decided to do something about it. So, the Protestant religion was created. Note: Democracy never came about in the Renaissance, there were democratic ideas though, like equality and things like that. Actually, if anyone took the time to look up what Catholicism teaches about indulgences, they'd find out that it is not forgiveness of sins that can be bought. I'm still amazed this idea is even out there. Indulgences remit the temporal punishment for sins ALREADY REPENTED OF AND FORGIVEN THROUGH CONFESSION. Though we may be forgiven of sins and not be damned for them, there are still the consequences that need to be remedied. Example: a throw a baseball through a window. I ask the own for forgiveness. I'm forgiven, but I still need to fix the window (that's a temporal consequence). Indulgences deal with the consequences - not the sins themselves. And as far as the "selling" thing goes, there were bad clerics doing these things even though the Church taught it was a sin (called simony). Simony is still a sin. I find it interesting that people are quick to condemn the whole church because of some bad individuals who were going against Church teaching. The religion in the Renaissance was as many people have said different than the middle Ages. They started "THINKING FOR THEMSELVES" which is one of the biggest parts about the Renaissance, they didn't do what the church told them to do, they researched the bible for themselves and found that many of the teachings they had been taught were contradicting the bible. A lot of these "reformers/ protesters" were burned at the stake for Heresy. Such as John Huss, William Tyndale and many more. A lot of them didn't die at the stake but lived to spread the truth around Europe some of these were Martin Luther who I dare say is the most famous because of his nailing of the 95 Thesis and John Knock who started the Reformation in Scotland, and John Wycliffe. Sorry about the horrific spelling! I hope this answer was of help. Geese, you guys are mean. Here's sometihing I wrote up on it. People during the Elizabethan England were much more religious than people today. During the Renaissance, people were only mostly concerned about serving the church and getting into Heaven. Just about everyone in this time period believed in God, and everyone was expected to go to either heaven or hell. And at this time, England was a Protestant country, no longer from the Catholic Church of Rome. This was called Reformation, which started out with attacks in the Catholic church and ended up to the founding of non-Catholic, also called Protestant, Churches. Some protestants, called Puritans, felt that the Churches in England weren�t doing good enough in their rejection to Catholicism. The Puritans wanted to purify the church of all the Catholic elements. Most puritans also had very strict ideas about which were sinful, such as gambling, wearing or buying fine clothes, drinking, and going to see plays. All of these were thought to pave the way straight to hell. A superstition that still lives today because of the religion during this time period is saying �Bless you� when a person opens their mouth to sneeze. It was thought by the Elizabethans that the devil would try to get into your body when you opened your mouth, and by saying �Bless you� the devil could not enter. Along with this, the movement of this religion moved from England to America eventually, where it affected many institutions. The puritans encouraged Bible reading, prayer, and preaching. They also stressed grace and devotion to achieve religious virtue. Today, those who attend their church services realize that the protestant dogma does not dominate anymore. However, Protestantism has, and still is very much integrated into many various elements of the western culture, and many others.

Heyy Ok I know the answer it is Renaissance Religion was very different than in the Medival times, In the midival times, everything was based around religion. Now in the renaisance the Church is still ruling, but more in a governmental sense. ALSO . . . if you go on to ask.com and then ask him a question he will come up with like thousands of answers and websites yeah I am doing a friking project that I hate and my teacher told me to do Religion of Renaissance but whatever ok well yeahh!! Oh yeah I have this really really really really good book about it, it has the best stuff in it! Its called The Renaissance Religion! But like there is not only Renaissance Religion in it there is like everyones topics that you are all talking about!! Trust me go to your library I am sure they have it there were like 20 of the same books in my library ok well just thought you might want to know! Ok well I don't know if it has eveyones topics but it sure has a lot of things and topics in it ok well I got to go finish a project that I havn't even started that is due tomorrow in about 12 hours EXACTLY ok byee!! <3

I Hope This Helps!!! The church was not very enthused with the changes in society toward religion. The change in music was disliked by the church, and as society tried to direct away from religion the church decided to take a stand. The church started off by censoring books and making writers get incenses from the archbishops before allowing works to be published. This did help, even though 45 percent of the books published were of religions nature and that percentage rose rather then fell within the next few years. Music on the other hand did was not affected by this shutdown. �They distrusted all non-biblical ceremony and stressed the importance of reading scriptures in the vernacular�(Hale 242). People who tried to challenge the power of the church found themselves faced with a well-organized group of leaders who thought very highly of the church and knew they would be punished highly. Renaissance religion was considered very controversial, and there were many disputes over what morals and ethics were to be included in the overall teachings of the church. Major problems came rose when the church wanted more money, so they sold certificates called indulgences which were said to forgive your sins. When this came to be, people began to question the church's beliefs and it's authority. Some people even said that there was corruption in the church, which angered the people of the church highly. One of the things that weakened the church the most was the rise of Humanism. Humanism is a concept in which people are concerned with human beings, their achievements, and their values. Signs of Humanism weren't just found in religious books but religious music also. �Music of our time, if properly allied to words, could move the souls of its hearers�(Zarlino 739). This and other proposals began to come up, some agreed, others thought it was ludicrous, and against the teachings of the church.

During the renaissance the church began to lose power, not only to people such as Martin Luther and John Calvin, but also to the masses who were now becoming more educated due to the invention of the printing press and the translation of the bible, so the common man could read and inturpert it for himself. People started thinking for themselves, and not putting all of their trust in the church. The Catholic Church was also losing power because of the splitting of the church, and countries beginning to establish national identity. This gave more power to the monachs instead of the pope and bishops. So overall you have pretty much one all powerful Catholic Church, that has more power over the government than the government does at the beginning of the renaissance, and by the end you have many different branches of the church, with individual governments taking control of their respective countries.

okay i'llhelp you sukahs out .... it all started around the 1450's when benji franklin discoverd electrisity, by tying a key to the end of a elephants trunk. ben trained the elephant for months, finally when he felt that the elephant was ready he straped te sattle on to the elephants back and heved him self on. then he forced the elephant to swim across lake superior during a major thunder storm. when the where about 1/3 across the lake the key at the end of the elephants trunk was struk by a bolt of lighting. and when the elephant turned in to a sword fish ben had finally dicoverd electrisity. but to the POINT elephants cant fly and they never forget! so in conclusion im the best.

Renaissance religion was very different than in the Medival times. In the Medival times, everything was based around religion. Now in the renaisance, the Church is still ruling, but more in a governmental sense.

in the Renaissance times many people had good religious values but others began to stray from the church because they needed to disobey the church one example of this was Martin Luther who created the religion we now know as Luterisim.

oh my god thank you sweet smartie, only one who answered question, i need to finish a report. but i got some info, people who questioned the common knowledge were thrown in jail cause the church hated that.
