if it is a compact flash card, it has probably been formated with fat32 under windows 2000 or xp, your mp3 player probably supports fat16, so it must be formatted with fat16 to work.

Yes, re-format it as FAT (not FAT32), it will be back to normal again.

It fixed my MP3.

Thanks.

this is info to Thomson Lyra PDP2201 but should help anyone

1) format Flash Card with FAT(16) - 2kb block (=4sectors on cluster)

2)Flash Card has bad sectors. Find it and repair or mark it to be impossible write on bad sectors.

I used program CF repair (for format to FAT) in Windows ME - than I must run full Scandisk   with surface test - on my card was 112 kB bad sectors (from 64 MB)

Capacity of my card:
63 934 464 byte (60,9 MB) - It shows you in WinXP properties of disc

Warning: Scandisk in WinXP dont find and repair bad sectors - use another program or scandisc in Win98 or WinME
