Gee, like chipmunk's "Current Top-Rated FAQ" (6/27/03), I hope my password is secure here. It seems quite naked spelled out ^up there, rather than the usual asterisks.. ;)

My question has become more of a suggestion since I opened this window. As requested,
I read all the Usenet intros, netiquette pages, rules/ instructions, & top FAQs. Not unfamiliar with message boards nor the internet, I still spent 2 hours looking and looking for a button, page, or link to "become a member," "register," "sign up," "join Usenet," "create new account." I typed each of the above words/ phrases into the FAQ archive search function - to no avail.

Only now, after I mustered my courage to approach 'Your Most Supreme Busyness' with my humble question, do I read that one must POST or ASK something FIRST before a "create new account" window will appear... :|

Wouldn't it be easier for all, especially us Usenet newbies (like les, who posted a similar Q 8/1/03) if this info were plainly stated right at the git-go - at the TOP of info, intro, FAQ pages? Just a quickie will do: "To join the Usenet community, simply post in any newsgroup, thread, or question window to activate the registration process."  ~jill
