If one believes in the revelation of torah by God at Sinai (known as Torah min Hashamayim in Hebrew, literally, "Torah from heaven") then the main implications are that God spoke every word of the Torah to Moses, on Sinai, over the course of those 40 days and nights.  Except for the last bit, which would be written by Joshua afte Moses's death.
