I recently added a catalytic converter with an O2 sensor to my 94 Jetta III GLS. The problem is that after diconnecting the battery, the "check-engine" light did not come off. The resolution would be to reset the computer, however the plug that they hook the computer in to has been disconnected causing my vehicle to not be recognized by the computer. I cannot pass Mass inspection, but my issue is that resetting the computer would cause my car to run smoother. The dealer wants to go through a detailed electrical test to determine the possibility that a wire connected to the vehicle computer has been tapped into. At over $50 an hour that is not an option. Can it be a timing belt issue?
