Until 3 weeks ago I had 2 black and tan chi's.  They were brothers, 4 years old and 9 months apart.  The older one, Paco was struck and killed by a speeding car.  Paco was everything your FAQ's say!  Our hearts are broken.  My other dog, Otis is small (not a 'teacup') weighs about 4 lbs.  He has always taken a 'back seat' if you will to Paco.  If you are sitting he is on your lap.  Paco would sit for hours looking out the window.

Otis is still hiding his treats and he very seldom barks.  He loved to run and play w/Paco.  He doesn't do anything like that any more.  He could be mourning or just 'coming in to his own'.

Should I get another chi for Otis and if so what age?  I would prefer 'not' a baby but maybe it's time he is the big brother?

Thanks for any help you can give me.
