We just had a litter of Golden Pups.  Out of the 8 puppies someone bought one and has been complaining since day one.  Now 4 months later she is saying the dog has something wrong with its ankles.(by the way the dog got our of her fence for 2 weeks also)  She tells me she has gotten two opinions, but one of the opinions came from our vet and he told us he has not seen the dog since it was brought in for its first puppy shot.  None of the other owners have had problems with their dogs and our dogs do not have any problems.  What can I do?

I thought having a puppy was about love and companionship. So she should help the dog to stay healthy. Big deal to her. Is this about breeding or refunds or something?

A respectable breeder should care for their animals, even when the animals have been moved to a new home.  Breeding animals is as much a responsibility, if not more so, than actually owning and taking care of your own animal.

Take the puppy back, give her her money, put her on a do not adopt to list & take it to your local humane society.  Adopt the pup out to someone who want a loving companion.  Don't put her off, she will cause the pup misery and you also.  Give her the money back, get your pup and get her out of your life!

well first of all, let me ask you if you asked her questions about why she wanted a puppy in the first place before you gave her the puppy. tell her that with proper training and proper care and love the pup should become less of a nuisance. if she still isn't convinced refund her money and take the dog back, you should keep it as your own family pet. if your a responsible breeder you should know how to handle the puppy so it grows to be well tempered.

Good breeders have lifetime warranties on their pups.  Take the advice above and take the dog back.  I am a breeder and I would have taken the pup back at first complaint.  Put her on the do not adopt list and know in the future that this comes with the territory!

I agree with pegtig. You should also take the puppy to a vet to get it examined in case something is seriously wrong with its ankles or anything else.

I'm assuming you don't have a breeding/puppy contract. If you did, you'd know that as a breeder, you are responsible for that dog for it's lifetime, whether it's in a home or not.

Take the pup back, give her the money back, get the dog vetted and neutered, and then rehome him to someone who's caring and compassionate.

Then take any other dogs you have and neuter them.

By all means take the puppy back.  This person sounds like a habitual complainer and she will never be satisfied with this poor puppy. Be sure to get her name on a list for "unsuitable adopter" for animals.

Didn't you offer a contract on hereditary defects? What kind of "breeder" are you?
