I have 2 Cockapoo's who are both 11 years old.  They both have problems with their backs.  However, I take them to a vet who also does chiropractic and it is amazing the difference after a visit.  They go from hardly being able to do stairs, to being their normal spunky self, doing stairs, etc.

My one girl has had problems for about 1 1/2 years now with her back.  At the beginning she had to go frequently to the vet to get worked on, however, now I take her about every 4 months, just to maintain, and she's doing fantastic.

My other girl has just started having problems, but after one visit...the difference is already amazing!

Hope this helps
