hi,

I want to convert wall sconce to plug-in night wall-lamp...(I dont have electrical outlet to use wall sconce) and I am done with it. It works but I have a question in ground wire in wall sconce. They said I have to tie ground wire in the screw on cross bar provided. Even if I screw that , I am worried if it would create any fire problems or electrical shock if I screw that cross bar directly  onto the drywall.

I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but I want to do exactly what you did...my wife bought a sconce that plugs into an outlet and she wants me to convert it to an in-wall sconce.  How did you do it?

I am curious to know how this is done as well.  We are in a townhouse (rental) and just running wires in the wall for the sconces just isn't going to happen.  However, there are plenty of outlets in this room and plug-ins would be feasible.  I'm sure it's probably simple but I just haven't done it before.  I wish someone would tell these lighting manufacturers that courtesy of HGTV, DIY, and TLC everyone is looking for a do-it-yourself job (including renters).
