I'm having a hottub installed and am told I need a dedicated 120v outlet.  I currently have a 110v outlet outside.  Can I simply replace the 110v recepticle with a 120 (t) recepticle for that purpose?

No, the plug outside is probably connected to two or more other plugs in or around the home so it is not "dedicated" you need to have an electrician put a new breaker in and run a new line to your hot tub Very simple not to costly Breaker $10-$30 depending on size wire depending on how much 50' will run approx $15-25
