If you are looking for a Coonhound and/or Beagle for a companion you can try rescue.  Houston Beagle & Hound Rescue www.houstonbeaglerescue.org currently has three Treeing Walker Coonhounds as well as various Beagles for adoption.  You do not have to live in Texas to adopt from them as long as your application is approved.

I have a 3yr old (7/8/04) that I'd like to find a loving home for. She's 42 lbs but thinks she's a lapdog, if you let her. Very loyal and funny. No habits except tenacity for getting into the cat's food. Husband is not a dog person and wants another cat. Her name is Valentine due to a large heart shaped spot on her side. She's a leftover pup from our other dog's litter (came pregnant from the pound). Valentine is spayed and up to date on all shots & housebroken. Mainly an indoor dog.

HARLEY He is a sweet dog, typical walker hound, lovely huskey bark.  He  needs a home where someone knows how to care for him.He is only 10 -11 Months old!

Harley is not neutered yet, but appears to be in good health.  Local rescues are currently "full" and have not been able to take him. If you can offer him a place, I would be glad to transport and help in any way I can. (I live in the city of Kalamazoo and have my limit of 3 dogs). Harley technically should have been euthanized yesterday, but they are waiting a few days and hoping.

If you know of anyone who might be interested, please forward the message to them! Links to pictures....

There is a male Treeing Walker Coon Hound available at the Huntsville Animal Shelter in Huntsville, AL.  This is NOT a no-kill shelter so I would really love to see this dog find a good home.  Born 11/02/01 he is out of the Tuff Company line. He is UKC registered, his paperwork was given to us when he was turned in. You can see him at http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=3025391&adTarget=468petsgeneral&SessionID=40db2d523bd62d84-app4&display=&preview=1&row=0&tmpl=&stat=
If that link doesn't work, visit www.petfinder.com and search under either Huntsville Animal Services or Treeing Walker Coonhound.  Thanks!!!

Hi, We live in Atlanta and found a Wonderful Female Walker Treeing Hound app. 6 - 8 years near Lake Lanier.  If she is not spayed - she will be,  and we do not want her to be a hunting dog.  She is great with kids, cats and other dogs.  She knows basic commands and is the sweetest thing ever.  We'd love for her to go live on a nice farm, she likes indoors, but also likes to take "walks" on her own.  She always comes back. Can arrange for transport for the right family.

I have a 6-7 year old special needs Walker Hound.  He is a very energetic and loving dog.  I found him almost 3 months ago starved (27 lbs) and lame.  He is now fully recovered but is still lame in his right front paw somewhat.  Even that does not slow him down.  He loves to run and play with my ohter dogs.  We are still working on housebreaking but he has come a long way.  He does very well with his kennel.  I will have him neutered before adoption.  Please email me with any question.  Please consider giving this great dog a second chance.  Thanks!

I found a Treeing Walker Coonhound several months.  Have tried to find his home but have had no luck.  He's about 3 years old, 96 lbs. (I know that's quite big) but the vet said he is definitely a purebred. He's very sweet and has great indoor manners.  We have 5 other dogs so would like to find him a great home.  We live 30 mins from Atlanta.

My son and his wife have a beautiful just turned 4 year-old purebred Treeing Walker Coonhound. She is house broken, spayed and current on all her shots. She is leash broken and healthy. They have 3 younger children that she does well with. She lives with another dog, a cat and a turtle. They have moved to a trailer court that does not have a yard that will contain her. She gets out and has no car sense and cars speed by their house. There is a neighbor that is mean to her and even taken shots at her with his beebee gun. She is well love and sweet, but getting skittish and confused in her current living situation. She has not hunted, but all the instincts are there. She will tree local squirrels and neighborhood cats then stay and point. She needs a good home, with people that will love her and plenty of room to run. My son lives in Helena Montana and I am here in Billings Montana. We would be willing to drive a considerable distance to be sure this little sweety gets the home she needs.

2 year old female Walker Hound abandoned in Arkansas.  She delivered 7 puppies of unknown breeding 6 weeks ago.  She's currently undergoing heartworm treatment and will be spade in 1 month.  She is incredibly sweet and smart, but shelters are full here and are rejecting any hounds. She chases squirrels and rabbits (so far).  She either needs a privacy fenced back yard or several acres on which to explore.  She gets along well with my other two beagles.  Don't know how she acts around children.

I found a female coonhound mix that looks like a treeing walker.  I call her Sweetie. She's 1-2 yrs. old, up-to-date on shots, spayed and has a very good disposition. I live in a condo and have had her for 2 months -- not a good situation. I am currently working with AARF in Winston-Salem to place her without much luck. Her picture is on the AARF website.  Contact AARF if you are interested.

We recently found what we believe to be a treeing walker hound, possibly a foxhound.  He was nearly starved when we found him.  He's in good health (though still skinny), has had all his shots and has no worms.  He's already 52lbs and will likely be around 70lbs.  He's really young, maybe 10 mos to a year.  Still pees like a girl.  I'm at my limit for pooches and we need to find him a home.  He's great in the house and gets along with other pets.  He's a hound but wants to be a lap dog.

If you're interested, please call (850) 484-0873.  We're in Pensacola, FL.

I’m Pamela in Atlanta GA and I’m a volunteer with Hopes Haven Chinese Crested and Hairless dog Rescue, Inc.  I was at a shelter pulling two beagles for another rescue and noticed a beautiful tricolor female AFH.  She was 48 hours away from being euthanized.  At the time she was very skinny and turns out she had sarcoptic mange/scabies.  She is being treated for that as we speak.  I’m not a professional but I feel that she is of VERY good breeding.  She even “stacks” well, but again I’m not a pro. She has these eyes that look right through you.  She is very alert and extremely smart.  She wants to play with my little dogs and doesn’t know her own strength.  When I took here she only weighed 42.5 lbs.  I feed primarily raw and she is gaining little by little.

"Phoebe" is looking for a GREAT home with others of her kind that she can play with. Please contact me at pamela.ash@cingular.com if you are interested in knowing more about Phoebe.

There is a beautiful young adult female Walker Coonhound at the Pell City, AL Animal Shelter.  She is listed on petfinder.com with pictures (name is Champagne).  She is very sweet, walks well on a leash, attentive and affectionate.  At this time, she has been at the shelter about a month, and does not have much time left--the larger / taller dogs get put down more due to limited space at the shelter.  The local Coonhound Rescues won't take her as they are all full.  Please contact the shelter ASAP if you can help!  She is truly a lovely dog!

I live in South Texas and I have a spayed female Treeing Walker that I really have to find a home for.  She is not a hunting dog and is used to living with children and other dogs and cats.  The ideal situation for her would be to live with other outdoor dogs.  She has an incontinence problem and really needs to live outside, which is impossible here because we have three other dogs and a pet door.  She's a very good natured and affectionate dog named Willow.  I would be willing to pay for all of her transport expenses to a good family.

I have a female walker hound that I found in Northern Indiana.  She obviously was abused & when I asked near-by neighbors about where she belonged they answered, "We think she belongs to the crack head on the corner".  They weren't sure because the man had so many dogs getting hit by traffic regularly.  My local shelter is a high kill shelter & she can not go there.  She is so good with kids and other dogs.  She is not aggressive in any way, but is a little shy & will need lots of love.  She once was mommy & I'm estimating about 1 1/2 years old.  She needs a home right away, her foster parents live in town & are over the limit on dogs.  I am willing to meet someone half way in exchange for a good home!

We just recently rescued a 6-7 month old Treeing Walker Coonhound from a dog pound that isn't a No-Kill shelter. We had her spayed and she is up to date on all her shots. Now all we need is a loving home for her. She does not have papers but we believe that she is pure-bred. She trees coons and has a lovely bark. She does have great hunting instincts but she could easily be a family dog with a bit of puppy training. She is great with our small children and our dog. She is currently working on house training and is already trained on our invisible fence. We live about 40 minutes Southeast of Cleveland, Ohio. If interested, please email at scfogel@alltel.net

There are several pretty Treeing Walker Coonhounds in kill shelters in Georgia if you would like to adopt and also save the life of a homeless pet.  I don't know how long they will be there, because animal control kill shelters often euthanize pets in a week or less.

I have found a dog one i belive to be a walker hound or prehaps a walker/begal mix. She was in the ocala national forest wondering and starving. She was covered in ticks and fleas. She looked bad and had no energy. I think she was a hunting dog that was left behind. anyways i brought here home and got her cleaned up. after many trips to the vet and feeding her she is coming around.I cant keep here and need to find her a new home. I live in orlando florida and you can contact me at

I have an 8 month old female walker coon hound that needs a good and loving home. She has a wonderful disposition, but needs someone that knows how to train dogs. She is very bright, but also very stubborn. I think the stubborness stems from her inteligence.

I have a 12 week old male Treeing Walker who needs a good home. I am going to a straight graveyard shift and will no longer have the time to properly care for him and my husband is not inclined to. He is very intelligent and learns faster than any dog I have ever seen. I love him deeply and will only part with him to someone who understands the breed more than I did when I purchased him. He is being offered free, but only after I put you under the microscope. I live in Riddle , Oregon and my # is 541-784-8927.

My brother has a treeing walker mix.  I believe she's part great dane.  She's about 8 months old and she's pushing 80 lbs.  She's very friendly (great with kids), but she requires A LOT of attention; far more than a full-time engineering student can give her.

Jesse is spayed and vaccinations are up to date.

If anyone's interested, please contact scottem1@msu.edu (I can provide pics).
