My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for six years now. We recently have been seeing a fertility specialist. We have done one IUI with no luck. My husband has a sperm count which goes up and down,(the doctor has recomended him taking the Proxeed supplement which he is doing going on the second month now. He also has low motility and morphology. The fertility treatments are already getting so expensive, we may have to stop real soon. The doctor has recomended that we I take injections of HMG to bring on ovalutation, followed by another IUI. (IVF is totally out of the question because of the expense. Getting to my question now, How is this going to help or will this be effective when it's my husband who has low sperm count? It just seems to me that if the sperm are unable to fertilize the egg it will not matter how many are produced. I am so confused, I don't know whether we should try one last time or not. Keep in mind that we are middle-class working people and money is tight for us. Can anyone give me a word of advice?

I too have been trying to conceive a child.  We have been married almost 5 years and have been trying about 4 years.  I have taken Clomid, but had no luck.  I have not taken any other drugs.  It was suggested for my husband to be tested, his sperm rather.  This may sound horrible, but he or myself do not know how to do this (get his tested).  I mean yes you do it at a doctor's office, but we waited to have sexual relations until we were married so that is all we know.  Do you have any advice on that?  I hope that you receive your heart's desire.  Do you have any children already?  All I can say is keep the faith.  God is what gets me through one day after another, one negative test after another.  He is my comforter.
Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

My name is Monique, my husband and I have been trying for a 8 years to get pregnant, we finally saw a fertility specialist. She gave us a prescription for Clomid, but after reading about others taking it to no avail, we worry that it may be a waste of money. My husband has a child from a previous marriage, even though that is the case, we are still going to have his sperm analyzed.
Amy and Michelle, I pray that you too will be blessed with a beautiful child. We would love to adopt, but on teacher's salaries, it is not an affordable option at this time. I always remind my friends who say that their kids are driving them nuts, to remember that they are overlooking their blessings. Good luck to you and many others who are trying as well.

Thanks for responding Monique.  It is comforting to finally be able to hear other people say the things I have been thinking and feeling.  My question is this, how does my husband get his sperm analyzed?  I was on Clomid for 5 months.  I did not get pregnant, but it did make my cycles normal.  My sister-in-law took Clomid one time and got pregnant.  I think it depends on the person.  Give it a try.  If you get the generic brand it will be about 30.00 per month.  Thanks for your prayers and I want you Amy and Monique to know that I will remember you in mine as well.

I recently found out that I had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.  My husband and I have been married almost 3 years.  My periods were never regular.  I went to doctor after doctor and did blood test after blood test.  No one could tell me what was going on.  We recently moved to Idaho and the local doctor here finally says you have PCOS.  I had surgery, a wedge resection.  A hard covering had formed over my ovaries and shut them down.  He took that off and cut wedges in my ovaries to make the eggs drop easier.  Well 3 or 4 months go by no baby but regular periods.  Then my OBGYN suggests to have my husband do a sperm analysis.  He has little to no sperm.  He suggested that we see a urologist.  But we do not have the money to go unfortunately.  It could be a problem that can be fixed but I just wish that someone could tell if it will be a waste of my time or not.  If I have to adopt just  tell me.  This is so hard I am just glad I am  not alone in this.

Me and my hubby have been together for five years and been trying to get pregnant for three and yet no luck the only reason were not taken no pills or going to no office to pay all this money is because we love each other very much and we can't life without each other and a baby of our own would be great and I believe that when GOD believes were ready he'll bless us and I hope he does it soon it seems like I mean something is telling me there's a reason I just wish I understood it.

Hi Everyone,

My husband and I have been ttc for a year. We just got the results of his sperm analysis - low sperm count, and high mortality rate.  So we too are going to see a urologist.

If anyone is having trouble with insurance I would suggest Celtic Insurance www.celtic-net.com that is what we have. They don't pay everything, but every little bit helps PLUS you can choose your plan. I also know that www.ameriplan-usa.net is going to be selling discount programs beginning in March for these types of things. I hope it helps.
Good Luck to everyone!

My fiance and i have been trying for a baby for four years. i have had a laporoscopy to check my tubes which are fine my fella has had his sperm count which is fine and he also has one child from previous relationship we were told that nothing was wrong and was referred to a fetility specialist for a second opinion.
We were then diagnosed with polycystic ovaries well one of them where she explained that the folicles all try to grow at the same time because the male and female hormones don't balance right therefore the folicles grow to a certain size all at the same time which makes them shrink and die failing to ovulate.
We have been put on treatment called IUI where we have scans every two - three days to check for cysts and to see how the folicles are progressing we are also given injections every two days which are female hormones to help balance things out and clomid tablets from day 1 to day 5 of our cycle then what happens say approx 14 days we will go to hospital and have his sperm washed and inseminated into myself then we just wait.
We have done this treatment once and we are now on the second lot, you are only allowed three cycles on NHS free as you should not take fetility tablets for more than 6 months as it can cause problems. we have been told that if these treatments do not work IVF is the next stage.
So wish me luck and for the rest of you stay strong i know it is hard and gives no hope when it isn't working but i believe one day we will all get what we want i think we just want it at the wrong time that we have been given
i hope all of you that is going through the same thing as us will be blessed soon with your little bundle of joy let me know it would be nice to hear from someone who has had the treatment and has actually worked for them

Good luck everyone

Hi I'm sorta new to this. I'm 23 and my husband and I nave been ttc for a little over a year now and I'm really getting frustrated.  About five years ago my periods became very irregular.  I just got done with my first round of clomid 50mg and I don't think I ovulated yet.  I used an opk and....nothing.  Is there any hope and will my periods go back to being irregular after this round or will another one start?  I'm tired of waiting and I feel so helpless and depressed.  If anybody can give me any advice it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks a bunch!

We tried for several years and found out I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome....too much testosterone in the females body among other things.  My advice is if there is low morphology, skip the "little stuff" and go to IVF with ICSI (Inter-cytoplasmic Spermatozoa Injection)  They will inject a single sperm in and egg.  There is a company in San Francisco that offers a money-back guarantee.  It is Pacific Fertility Center (check out www.pfcla.com)  If you own a home, check out refinancing or taking out a second mortgage.  If you don't own a home, Pacific Fertility offers financing.  Too many insurance companies spend too much money with the less intensive treatment.  But usually you end up paying for some or all of the expense during these treatments.  Why not skip the treatments and go for the guarantee?  We almost went this route, but fortunately, I was double-insured so nothing was out of pocket for us.  I had laser burr-hole surgery on my ovaries and went right to injectables with IUI.  We have two boys now.  Don't give up.  A good site also is www.inciid.org.  If you have any questions, I could help answer them.  E-mail me at reendeavors@yahoo.com

Hello to all:
My heart goes out to you. I am facing the same challenges and it has been very frustrating to say the least. We have been trying for close to 2 years. I did have a miscarriage back in March of this year and the doctor made a comment that made me feel hopeful; she said that having a miscarriage is proof that my husband and I are compatible to have children. I guess there can also be some physiological factors that make some women reject the sperm of a man.
We are hopeful and do believe that God will bless us with a child soon. I extend the same hope and prayers to all of you. Keep yourselves up to date with science but do remember to pray and visualize it. I have started a group therapy for women wanting to conceive which is very supportive and nurturing and a CD for visualization. I to feel the same as all of you.  I had a miscarriage in December 2003 and have been trying for 9 months to concieve.  My OBGYN told me to give it at least a year before testing for problems.  He told me if I got pregnant once, that it should happen again.  Is there anyone else out there who has had a miscarriage and how long did it take you to concieve after that.   May God Bless us all.

Amy, Michelle and Monique. I buy clomid from Costco. I only pay 10$ for a cycle. I have been married for 6 years and have been ttc for 2.5 years. My husband is 37 and I am almost 33. I have already tried one cycle of clomid with no luck.  I will just do what I have to do and hope for the best. Like all of you.

I have taken the Clomid, with no luck. I took the highest dose. My husband is fine, but I don't ovulate. I didn't even ovulate on Clomid. I don't have insurance now, so I can't try again. I don't even have a monthly cycle, and I'm 24 years old. It is a bad health risk, but with no insurance it's my only option to do nothing about it. My prayers are with you all. Thank you for letting me express what is happening with me.

Hi to everyone talking about clomid and iui.  My Husband and i Have been trying for the past two and a half years, and then last year we went to bupa and we went through the hycosey, and then onto clomid for 3 months but nothing happened, the fourth month we did IUI but that again didn't work, we then had a break for a month and again tried with clomid and IUI and horay we caught, all happy for a while but then went for my 12 week scan our baby had died at 9 weeks and 5 days, I really couldn't beleive it and was in shock for a while and am still yearning for our baby.  But we have started to try again with bupa and i would recommed it, and the only thing that keeps me going is that i did catch and that it is possible!  I hope this gives some of you hope and and know that it is hard but all the yearning to be a mum will one day come true, the body is a strange thing and changing all the time
which i know is a nightmare)Ha! but one day!!

HI everyone, I used to come to this site a while ago, my husband and I had been trying to concive for 3 and a half years and after I fell prenant I decided to come back and tell you what I did to make it happen!  During my searching on the internet for someting to help me fall pregnant, I came acorss this e-book and I swear it is what helped me after so many years, It is called "Miricles do Happen", the author is Carol Andrews and she makes so much sence, her theory is simple and obviously effective, as I am 20 weeks pregnant and I thought that it would never happen.  www.become-pregnant.com
Stop worrying about feeling like you will never get pregnant really is so simple, just read her book, good luck.

Hi everyone my boyfriend and I have been together for four years and have been trying to get pregnant for the past 2 years and nothing. I have gotten some test done from my OBGYN and come out fine, so now they are going to get a sperm count from my boyfriend. I am just very nervous and scared that I wont be able to have a kid which is something that I have been wanting for a while now. How many times a day should we be having sexual intercourse. I just feel like nothing is working for us and we are young so I don't know what could be the problem. Please advise.

Thanks everyone and keep your dreams alive god will hear our prayers.

Dear TTC,

It breaks my heart to hear these stories.  I'm on a different end of the spectrum in that I've been treating fertility for over a decade with wonderful success as an acupuncturist.  What I can share with you is that it is imperative to get your entire system (physical, mental/emotional, spiritual) aligned with fertility.  Sometimes, we think we're are doing that but if fertility is still not ours, then that is an indication that there is some fine-tuning that still needs to be done.  Why, because that is how energy works. As a result, I've written a book and created a website specifically for my fertility patients and women like you.  If you feel inclined you may visit it @ www.myfertilitysuccess.com  If not, that's ok too.  I wish you all many fertile blessings, Laurie

I been trying to fall pregnant for about 8 and a half years. 5 years (2001)
ago I had laproski. Found out that I had a cyst on my right ovarian and and also had a remnandt in my vagina. Sex is painful having a remnandt. It's a defect blister growing in your vagina.
Found out I also had Endermetrosis.
The stupid surgeon didn't offer me to remove them but questioned "What are you going to do about it?" so I didn't make up my mind because of confusion and unprepared.
Last year (2005) I got an operation to remove it. I fell pregnant in January (2006). Let me tell you how my eye's almost fell out of my head when I did the urine pregnancy test. My heart beat could not believe what I discovered. I was in shock.
God bless everyone here for a baby.

I got pregnant and lost the baby from an injury I got from being thrown off a horse... So, even if the doctors tell you, you cant... dont give up. God will grant me and hopefully all you couple out there, dont give up. I think think we can do it.

my husband and I are also trying to concieve...have been for about 10 years...failed to go to the dr. for fears he would tell us that we weren't able to concieve...then i finally  went to my obgyn and have had numerous tests done. blood work and ultra sounds, hsg to test for my tubes which all tests turned out ok then my obgyn set up a semen analaysis for my hubby...he had to masterbate at home then take it to the lab at our hospital for it to be analized..transport to hospital had to be within 1 hour of masterbation. you have to set up an appt.with the lab but your Dr. refers you to get the analaysis done. his tests turned out fine. my menstral cycles have been irregular since i was about 19 and i'm 32. dr. just feels i'm not ovulating so i now am on metformin and clomid and the dr. told me that he would give me 6 to 8 months on clomid then i would be sent to a specialist i too found out that i have poly cystic ovarian disease and i'm boarder line diabetic i just had a test done and i went from numerous cysts prior and now have 4 to 6 on 1 ovary and i forget what he said about the other ovary  he also said no folicles, he said things were looking good. it seems as though i'm on the largest roller-coaster i've ever been on because this is so emotionally draining. my dr. upped my dose of clomid to 100 mg.(which i'm so emotional while taking the clomid, my feelings get hurt very easy and i cry on the drop of a hat) i was on 50 mg prior this is my 2nd month on 100 mg. and i know i ovulated last month but i didn't  concieve. i also have to do the clear blue easy ovulation tests...at our wal-mart  7 strips it's 20.00 ( i just found online where i can get 40 strips for like 47.00 or something in that range so i think i will look into them as the expenses just keep building.i start them on like day 13 of my cycle til up to day 29 to watch for a line. i've only ever had a faint line.there are 2 tests that we have to have done..1is a test to make sure that my vaginal mucas isn't killing the sperm before it gets to it's destination. the other is to make sure that the sperm is traveling in the right direction.
i have truely come to believe that God has had different intentions for me at this time what they are we may never know, but my sister has 4 children and she was hospitalized and had no-one to care for her kids so we took over that role....had we had kids of our own we may not have been able to care for hers to as they are from 3 months to 6 years in age....maybe that's why i dunno...God does have our lives planned out for us but why why why does it have to be so hard for us to concieve.especially when there are so many that don't realize how blessed they are to have the precious gift of a child and fail to care for them the way every child should be cared for!  i get so mad when pregnant people say they are fat or ugly because they really don't realize how beautiful they are!!!! it gets so frustrating when people say sooo you and scott have been married for some time now so when are you going to start your family....i used to just cry and now i say well i dunno that seems to be in Gods hands as we have been trying but not having any luck...may Gods Blessings be with each of us someday soon!!! keep the faith and the faith will walk us through and a child is a gift from God, and he chooses when it's our turn to be blessed with a child are thoughts i think of daily so all we can do is pray!!!

I have been married 5 years ago and i have been tryping since i got married.  I had very hard time going through an ivf treatment withougt sucess.  I was diagnoised with pcos 3 years ago.  The last time i did the ivf treatment i developed ovarian hyper stimulation and they kept me in the hosptial for 4 days.  if it was not for the comfort God gives me i would not have made it until now but i believe that God gives the barren women  many children and he makes her dwell in a house full of children.  I stand on God's promise.  Believe all that it will happen and it will.

Reading all of these really help me. My husband and I have been together for 7 years, we only recently started trying to conceive but in the 7 years we've been together, we've used protection maybe 2 or 3 times. After a while i started thinking "something must be wrong". I went and had bloodwork and was diagnosed with insulin resistance. Doctor put me on 2000 mg glucophage (metformin) daily to help me ovulate. I've been on it for 4 months now, no pregnancy yet. But, I think the meds may just be starting to kick in; before I never got a positive ovulation test, now I'm coming up on my predicted fertile days and I'm getting a faint positive that gets stronger every day. If I don't get pregnant this month, I'm going to beg my doctor for Clomid at my appointment on the 17th. Good luck, prayers, and baby dust to you all.

Hello. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for almost 6yrs to no avail. I am at my wits end. I have an 8 yr old son from a previous relationship. However, my spouse has no children of his own. We are desperately trying to have one together. Unfortunately his sperm count is drastically low. We have tried "natural" supplements for men with low sperm, etc. We just don't know what else to do. We too are limited financially. We actually went to a urologist for his problem about 3 times and all we got out of it was debt. We can't afford to do IVF and all that other artificial stuff. I just wish there was something out there that we could try that would give us a glimmer of hope. I am growing tired of the disappointment of having a period every 28 days.
Please pray for us!

I want you all to know there is hope. My husband and I were TTC for four years. I have always had very irregular periods and PCOS and never ever ovulated on my own. I saw a RE who said to take injectables and do an IUI. I was a little skeptical at first but it worked and I got pregnant. I now have a 2 year old son. I think i am more grateful for my child than women who have them right away. We are trying for number 2 and I hope I have the same luck

My husband and I are just coming to terms with not being able to have our own child.  We too are going to try IUI but at the same time are also going to try to adopt.  We are a middle income family and expense is an issue.  We know of a couple who was in the same situation and adopted an 8 month old through CYS with no cost to them.  The process is to register as a foster parent but you are able to specify that you are only looking for permanent placement.  While there are no guarantees you can work with the social worker and have to rely on their expertesse to know what situations are permanent placements.  Once you have a child the state pays you until the adoption becomes final.  Check with your local CYS.

My Husband and I have been ttc for over 3 years. We did not find out until about a year after 1st sperm analysis that he has a low count so the Dr. ordered another analysis. Waiting on results for that, neither of us wants to adopt but IVF is so expensive and insurance doesn't pay for fertility stuff. Sucks that so many have fert. problems and almost no one covers costs. Another way to collect sperm for analysis is by coitus interuptus(withdrawal method).
