I have a 2000 SR5.  I have had the drive train lock up while moving 9 to 12 miles an hour twice.  Both instances were on the 19th of the month in Sept. and Oct. and it occured between 5:30 and 6:00 pm.  The first time it skidded to a stop, I stomped on the brake a few times and was able to go.  The second time I stomped on the break and it made no difference.  I then backed up the truck 12 inches and rolled forward only to find the drive train locked up again when I rolled forward the 12 inches.  I then backed up about 4 or 5 feet.  Then rolled forward and the drive train was free.  Toyota says the following:  No problem noted with either computer system, no break problems, cannot get problem to reoccur so it is intermittent.
Whats wrong.  I suggested that it is trying to engauge 4xlow with out me requesting it.  They say that the computer would report that and it didnt.  No metal in the front or rear differential, transfer or transmission. All lubricants are clean.  Tech advisors have never had this happen before.  200,000 or more Tundras on the road and mine is more special than all the rest.
Randy the service advisor at Roseville Toyota told me that they are getting out the ougie board to figure out the problem.  I am scared to drive this truck without the problem fixed.  I have a new saying now.  I didn't buy the number one rated crash test truck in america to be in a wreck that it caused.  If they cant fix it then I wish I would have taken my chances with the number two rated truck.

HI.  It was the bearings in the rear end.  It caused the main gear off of the drive line to lock up and bind.
