U people are so quick to judge our beloved prophet stating and saying things that only an idiot would say. 1: many of the earlier prophtes had more than one wife DID U FORGET 2:DAVID had 100 wives 3:Solomon had 300 wives and 7,000 concubines 4:jacob had 4 wives YET there is nothing to criticize there ITS SAD THAT U COMPARE YOUR SELVES TO OUR PROPHET who IS HIGH ABOVE U u indeed are even beneth even my feet!!! it is prophet muhammed who established peace and justice through out the land 1: the arab pagans use to bury their daughters which the PROPHET STOPPED 2:there was abuse among done to the arab women by their husbands which the PROPHET STOPPED 3:there was lewdness and illicit behavior which the PROHPHET STOPPED 4:there was racial discrimination, and slavery which the PROPHET STOPPED 5:the pagans took many wives as many as they could get which the prophet stopped 5: he brought justice to a land corrupted with evil now tell me why so jealous!! u will never be able to compare yourselves to the prophet not even in your dreams

If u think about it really, Islam is a religion that seems to brainwash people. I mean, its been proven by scholars that your prophet was a man who had seizures and convulsions, and thus, when he saw visions... hmmmmm u get the drift? not to mention, the whole religion was created through violence, where he and his posse went around and plundered villages and raped women to convert them to islam. Think about all the facts deeply..... what man, i.e. your prophet would marry a 9 yr. old girl if he was in his right mind? It says that the religion has roots from Abraham, and there are other prophets..... wasn't it Moses who brought forth to the people the 10 commandments, and when he did, one of them was 'Thou shall not kill' ? Then why would you take the Qur'an and say ""As for those who are slain in the cause of God, he will not allow their works to perish. He will vouchsafe them guidance and ennoble their state: He will admit them to the Paradise he has made known to them" (Qur'an7:6)" This is completely contradicting. So in my honest opinion, Islam is just one of those religions that has brainwashed its multitudes of believers. I mean, i have never seen any other kinda of religious gathering in which people get killed..... i.e. The pilgrimage to Mecca in which people get trampled to death... yea nice way to advertise yourselves. And then to have all these extremists who blow up buses or public places and kill innocent women and children. I dunno, but if you rationally think about it, Islam doesn't make any sense. If you people read this and are smart, you will know that if you follow this religion, its probably in your best interest to switch to something better or more believable. But then again, you could just be brainwashed into thinking all my arguments aren't true.... ;) Take care..... ciao

Islam actually got it's start much earlier than anyone else states above. Look back to Abraham in the Bible. Abraham slept with his concubine or Sarah's slave, he had a son named Ishmal. Then Sarah by the ripe old age of 90's and by God's grace had a son named Issac. God told Abraham that he would have more decendents than the rocks in the sand. God also told him that great religions would decend from him (they did). Mohammad stold everything from the Jewish and Christian faith. He said that Abraham brought Ishmal to the mountain and nearly sacrafised him, not Issac. He tried to convert the Jewish people but they threw his lies out and he fled in fear. Mohammad did not have an origional idea of his own. God told Abraham all of this more than 4000 years ago...and everything he told him has come to pass.

I agree,most of this is personal view, nothing based on facts. And its not up to an individual to say the answer if they have no back up aka fred, so can u please watch what you say! some things that you have said can be offensive to Muslims, and what ever religion you believe in, I'm sure you wouldn't like people making stupid comments on! So please do your research if you want to answer a question, because i can tell that what you have said in that paragraph isn't accurate... If some of you people have questions as so^^^ then I suggest that you visit a local mosque, and I'am sure that one of the psychology scholar will be more than happy to answer, or there are some Muslim sites you can visit!

How did Islam begin? Muslims believe that "Islam" has always been around. Islam means "submission to one God, Allah", and there were many people who devoted their lives to God (Allah) before Prophet Muhammed came, peace be upon him. In the year 610 AD, the angel Gabriel visited Prophet Muhammed with a message from Allah while he was meditating at Mt. Hira. He said that Muhammed must tell the people of Mecca to stop worshipping idols and to accept the one true God, Allah. Gabriel told Muhammed about past prophets including Abraham, Moses, and Jesus, peace be upon them. Whenever Muhammed had a message from Allah through Gabriel, Muhammed would memorize everything and then recite everything to his companions, who would then write it down. This consists of the Qur'an The first Muslims included Prophet Muhammed'swife, Khadijah, his servant Zaid, and his 10-year old cousin, Ali. The people of Mecca hated Muhammed because he spoke blasphemy against their gods. Muhammed had to flee to Madinah from Mecca to avoid persecution by the Meccans. What do Muslims believe? Muslims believe that there is only one, unique God. They believe in the angels created by him, in the prophets, and in the Day of Judgment. Muslims also believe in a chain of prophets including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Ishmeal, Issac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, David, Solomon, John the Baptist, and Jesus. They believe that Allah's final message was revealed to Muhammed through the angel Gabriel. Devout Muslims follow the five pillars of Islam, which make up the foundation of Islam. The five pillars include faith, prayer, charity, fasting, and pilgrimage.

Muhammed was born in Mecca around 570AD. He, apparently, liked to collect concubines and booty, most of which came about while conquering the Arabian Peninsula. Food for thought from the Koran / Qur'an- "As for those who are slain in the cause of God, he will not allow their works to perish. He will vouchsafe them guidance and ennoble their state: He will admit them to the Paradise he has made known to them" (Qur'an47:6)"When you meet the unbelievers in the battlefield, strike off their heads and when you have laid them low, bind your captives firmly."(47:4)

i don;t understand this website. i came here to look for answers to the questions but they are not very forthright or direct in telling the people what they want to know! I wanted to know when islam started.. and than it goes into muhammed and collecting concubines?! uh? how are these two things related...

Islam began in the seventh century A.D. Mohammed started the religion. Although he could not read or write, he had the Koran written using text taken directly from the Jewish Torah (Five books of Moses) and from the Christian bible. He also added much which was original to him. He declared that the Jewish patriarchs and also that Jesus were actually Muslims, even though Islam didn't exist until he created it. This is a huge contradiction of course! The koran is filled with hateful portions towards "nonbelievers" especially those who worship more than one God, including calls for their death. It is not a tolerant religion. It is a virtual as well as a literary desert.

On his commercial journeys to Syria and Palestine he became acquainted with Jews and Christians, and acquired an imperfect knowledge of their religion and traditions. My calculations and sources say that the religion of Islam say that the religion started around 600A.D. when Muhammad started preaching at a nearby church when he was around the age 12

Muhammed started Islam in 705ad when his people were worshipping idols. He had a vision from Allah, who told him to stop them doing this, and to make them turn back to him, the one true God.
