There is a pitbull that my neighbors own and it will not and cannot be contained in its pin/backyward fence. I have talked to the owners 2 times already and the police gave them a ticket for the dog being out--I think that will not be enough done. It has chased my cats 2 times that I know of, and has bitten 2 other neighbors dogs what can we do about this legally!!?? Please answer asap! Thanks!!

Keep your cats in the house and you wont have that problem. Why should your cats roam freely, when dog has to be confined?

I agree with mudgod.  Most dogs, any kind of dogs, will escape a yard when temptation arises.  A cat wandering around is definetly something that will inticce any dog.  My question is how did the pitt bull bite the other dogs?  Where they also running around freely?

The person who owns the pit bull should be fined more. Thats a bad owner. He's making it harder for the rest of us pit bull owners to keep our dogs. As for you cats, keep them inside until the situation is resolved. Even afterward who is to say they wont wander into the pits yard. If you do decide to challenge the owner of the pit make sure you understand its not the pits fault he's just being cared for by a imbecile

Please keep in mind that this pit has bitten OTHER DOGS and chased CATS.  He has had plenty of opportunity to bite a person or maul a kid but hasn't.  This is typical of pit bulls.  They usually exhibit animal aggression to one extent or another, but they DO NOT usually exhibit human aggression. This has to be learned, usually by abuse.  Also, poor breeding practices (of usually unregistered pits) can be to blame.

what is wrong with you people? you are the kind of people that shouldn't own pitbulls.  anyways, i would keep calling the police if talking to them doesn't help. if the police don't help then put bowls of antifreeze in your own yard.dogs love the taste and it's deadly to them without pain, also if the bowls are in your yard you can't get in trouble.everyone is going to get mad at this but i have two pits too, and i am responsible with mine so its not a problem. irresponsible people shouldn't own these dogs anyway and you would be doing the world a favor. pitbulls are great dogs, unfortunately most owners are stupid. maybe if you retards seen consequences to your dumb behavior the rest of us pitbull owners could live in peace. and no your cats should not be running around either. we USED to have cats tear up our garbage, but a little rat poison in some tuna next to the garbage stopped that.no it is not fair to the animal but its not fair for other people to deal with others animals, and i for one will not tolerate it!

Ok first off, I know how cats are I have way too many already, If they want to go outside there is not stopping them, but you have to try, in my city there is a violation against any animal "running at large" and you could possibly get ticketed for your cats running around.  Second, Pit Bulls can climb just about anything, so a cheap fence or a 4 foot tall fence even a 6 footer is not going to contain a APBT.  Don't kill the dogs, call a rescue group in your area, let them know that you have called the cops and the owners have been warned, they will be able to help you better with this situation.

"and i for one will not tolerate it!"

The animals don't know better.  Don't punish them for human stupidity.  Cats ripping up your garbage?  Get cat food and put it out.  It's not the cats' fault they don't have (good) homes.

hi , i have a 2 year old pitbull that loves to run around freely with my 2 year old rottweiler, they are both highly trained .. by me but this is because i studied breeding and all sorts of stuff.
what troubles me is that my 2 dogs are very strong and snap at any time , like the other day there was 2 bulldogs roaming around and both of my dogs side 2 side went after them and unfortunately killed them.
the good thing is that they will not attack me as i am their owner. they also will not attack any humans without my command , but will ergently attack a ananomous dog for no reason..
if you are a high breeder please tell me youre advice

Off The Dogs! Snipe Them! What a worthless creature! Who gives a crap what these lefty commies think!if they break out, pump their ugly bodies full of lead! my recommendation is to throw some anti-freeze-tainted hotdogs over the fence. make sure you use a lot of them.
It isn't enough to wait till these f*ing animals maul the owners/their kids/your kids/you...
take action. make a statement and blow the ugly mutts away!! :)

Hah, this is funny if you have a sense of humor... to be honest though, your cats should be more aware that there is a pit on the other side of the fence that would like to play(tease/kill) with it... how stupid does a cat have to be to keep going there? And as for the pits getting out, it happens... my two dogs (chow/German Shepard and bluenose pit) just got out earlier today... and came back on there own without any complaints (my neighbors are real nosy and quick to complain). It happens, so just hope your cats aren't outside when it does. As for the bowl of anti-freeze/ rat poisoning for the dogs and cats.... I'dliterally would kick the sh*t out of you if i ever saw you do that.

First of all its only in the dogs nature to hunt for food. And a cat makes a perfect meal.Second of all you are wrong for wanting your neighbor to put there dog in a better place if you cant keep your cats inside. There dog has just as much of a right to roam freely as your cats. No dog is gonna stay on there side of the fence when there is fresh meat on the other side,no matter how good the fence is.He just knows what nature taught him.How would you feel if someone poisoned your cat? yeah, so DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!! You can go to jail for it,too. And finally, you need to study pit bulls more and stop judging them. your cats are more of a threat to your neighborhood than the pit bull next door.

I have had the same problem with my neighbors pitbull. He has jumped my fence and went in my backyard. He recently killed my cat in her own front yard. I believe pitbulls are not neighborhood dogs and should only live where there is land. Anyone that can sit and say how wonderful pitbulls are are just plain stupid. They cannnot be trusted. Now on the other hand a Golden Retriver can. For you pitbull owners who can say just feed the cats to the dog are messed up because I am grieving greatly over what that cruel breed has done. I never met a meaner dog and that's saying alot beause I have owned many different breeds all my life. Pitbulls don't belong in Neighborhoods and we need to make a law in all states saying so.

Legally- Has the dog done any damage to your cats or property? Legally you can sue the owner and give them a big wake up call! This dog is probably worth nothing to them so why not catch it and make sure it doesn't come back. Don't kill it it's not the dogs fault it's the owners. My dog broke his chain once and went running the block with 10 foot of chain behind him and although he didn't do anything to anyone and he was raised around cats I apologized to everyone he scared and I took care of the problem. Maybe offer them a chain? Unless they hurt you or your cats there is nothing you can do legally except keep reporting the dog out everytime you see it and the cops or animal control or the owner will get tired of hearing from you and do something about it.

Pit Bulls can be very great dogs i have one my self and he is very loving he is best friends with my 4 year old nephew it all depends on the way you raise the dog in this case he has bad owners who have made him the way he is but it's not his fault and he can be changed by a responsible owner please do not poisin him like this ignorante person above say's but if he keeps getting out and is showing agration just call the cops again because this type of dog behavior looks bad for the responsible owners who raise these dogs as part of there familys and who grow up into great dogs.

A couple of pit bulls which have been known to kill cats around my neighborhood wandered onto my property. I called the owner and let them know that they were there and that they would be shot if not removed. The owner claimed that a good football game was on and couldn,t retrieve them at that time. I had no other choice but to shoot both of the dogs. When the owner and his family came around to get the dogs ...let s just say they were shocked to find them in trash bags... am I at fault here?

i think that anybody with any dogs needs to be just as safe with that dog. Pit bulls aren't bad dogs people make them that way if you dont like that you can kiss my ass. As far as the cats almost any dog will go after a cat it part of being a dog dont get mad cause we have to keep ours in a yard all day while yours can go and be a huge trouble to every body else thats crap. Dont call the cops on him PUT YOUR CATS IN AND YOU WONT HAVE TO DAL WITH THINGS LIKE THAT DUHHHHHHHHH

this is funny to read. all of you people are stupid, and i agree with macker, get a wolverine. no, dont kill the dog or anything, if you see the dog in your yard, if you punish it hard enough like with a broom stick or something, it will get tired of it and go to somebody elses house.

I would suggest keeping your cats indoors, some dogs( regardless of breed)chase cats. As for Manlo, people like him should be put down. If I knew where he lived I'd report him immediately, animal abuse is no laughing matter.

i love pitbulls there my favorite kind of dog ive had 2 myself & everyone knows that if they are aroused by an animal running loose like a cat or dog you should confined the other animals by actualy taking care of them & putting them in some kinda of placement so they won't arouse the pit that is in his own yard!Everyone with common sense should know that any kind of animal dog, cat, horse or whatever is going to be violent to a loose animal so you should speak with the owners of the others dogs that were loose!
And you need to keep your cats in the house or train them to stay in your yard because it's not fair that they should be allowed to run freely!
