My female is coming in to heat.  I have been told that last approximately 21-28 days.  Do they actually "spot" this entire time?  I am having to keep her and my male separated.  When he is in the house and she is out side all he does is "sniff" every where she has been. I have been told that when she is fully in- He will go bizzirk.... peeing everywhere she has sat, laid, been ect.  He will be a "wild child".  Is there any truth to this?  We have found most of the information about her I need from the vet.  We never thought to ask what affect this will have on our male.  We plan to breed, just not her first time.

Oh yes definitely. He will be VERY desperate to breed her and she in return will be desperate to be bred. It is almost impossible to keep a male and female apart during this time. And the time she is in heat can range from
less than a week to a month!
