Hi  My friend's cat kept losing weight ,and having diarrhea, and the vet said it was hypothyroid condition. So they took him up to Lansing , Mich. where he ( the cat ) was given radio active thyroid treatments for this condition for a few weeks. Then they brought the cat home, and he was fine, and put  on weight ,and his coat became glossy , again.

There are a lot of reasons for weight-loss in cats. 1) Feline Leukemia; 2) Feline AIDs; 3) a liver problem; 4) a thyroid problem... and many more things.

Hello my cat also had a hypertyroid and lost alot of weight, she went on tablets for it which worked great. Things to look out for are they seem agitated all the time and are very vocal.

My cat is about 13 years old.  I was told today by my mom that my cat weighs 3 pounds but that the cat doesn't look it until she is picked up.  What could this be caused from?

Unfortunately my cat died. Weight loss was the first sign. I put my baby through teeth extraction, and antibiotics, but in less then a month, she died in my arms. I think the prognosis from vet was wrong. She went down hill too fast. I think it was cancer. Hope anyone with same problem has a good vet. I force fed her, and now feel so bad for putting her through all I did.
