Hi, at very least converting WAVE files to MIDI is non-trivial; to do it accurately is almost impossible, and to do it in VB is completely so ;-).

There are a number of reasons for this, but the biggest issue is the fact that once a file is in wave format, then all the interference between the music/sound in the file has happened - and to figure out what the origional sounds were - so that you can split the file into tracks for midi - requires quite sophisticated techniques (read up on Digital Signals Processing if you're interested).

As far as I know, no program gets this right very reliably.

If you want to try and get this right anyway, I'd advise you to take up a more suitable programming language for this, such as c/c++.
