I won't lie to you, I think you are nuts for wanting this, but I know that it is your choice what to do with your body.  Before you do, please take a little advice.

I know that tattoo parlors will do piercings of (all types).  There are probably other places that do those types of piercings, but wherever you go please check it out first.

Make sure it is very, very reputable due to the sensitive nature of the piercings you want done (some piercings can cause you to bleed to death before you get to the hospital, if they are done wrong, meaning they can hit a major artery in some areas).  Also make sure of their policies on privacy (to keep your dignity intact), as well as sterility.  You DO NOT want tattoos or piercings of any kind done at a place that:  does not have privacy policies in place, does not have a sterile environment and strict procedures for sterilization, and/or reuses needles!  If they won't be specific about their policies, or you have any doubt what-so-ever about the place of business, DO NOT GET IT DONE THERE.  There are always alternatives, and if you don't feel comfortable with one, find one that you ARE comfortable with BEFORE you do anything!

Please be careful.  If you are still unsure about where to get this done, ask your doctor.  (You used to have to get a licensed professional, i.e. your doctor, to pierce your ears before there were unlicensed sales associates in shopping mall pagodas using ear guns.)  Your general health care provider or your gynecologist should be able to give you the names of a couple of reputable places in the area that you could check out.  They will know if the place is reputable or not because they see the presence, or lack thereof, of infection, and improper procedures after the fact.  The results are sometimes more telling than an interview with the owner before the procedure.  (The doctor might even be able to do it for you, as opposed to having someone who may or may not have a license using you as a guinea pig.)

Again, please be careful!  Fashion is not always the best way.  (It used to be fashionable to be acutely obese, and also used to be fashionable to break little girls feet and fold them in half to make the feet smaller...Ouch!  It is still fashionable for women to wear high heels.  Yet on average, women suffer more back, feet, ankle, knee and leg problems from high heels, than from any other single cause.)

Check it out first.  Find out everything you can on the good, bad, and ugly of what you want done. Then find a place you are comfortable with, if you decide you are willing to take the risks to get it done.

Sincerely Concerned,

Leanne Munger

I am trying to get my license right now and i am only 15 years old but i know that it is a dangerous issue but before you can get your license you have to be able to do piercings in front of a professional and they are very strict. If you are nervous or its crooked...etc. You do not get your license. Also you have to pay $1,500 to get your license and thats not including all the traveling cost if your not close to any license buisness. So why would any one pay that much money to screw up and get their license taken and if they screw up to bad they get a fine and maybe even put in jail.
