Find a dog that will fit your lifestyle. If you like to jog alot, get a dog that needs lots of exercise. If you want a house dog then a small breed might be best. If you work long hours consider not getting a dog unless you have a neighbor that can keep it company and exercise it while you are gone at least once a day. Huskies are very sweet natured and love kids and attention. They are not excessive eaters though the food should be monitored somewhat. They are bred for cold weather but their unique coats will keep them cool in summer and warm in winter so they can adjust to any climate. They need lots of exercise and a firm hand. If you aren't firm with them and teach them who is boss right from the start they will be a nightmare as they learn easily to manipulate you but with good training and lots of love they are the most delightful dogs. They also don't do too well off leash as they are wanderers by nature and if allowed to will run for hours. They chew and dig alot if the habit is established so teach them young what they can and cannot chew/dog on. They are a challenge to keep in pens. The only way I keep mine in is an electric fence around the trouble spots in the pen. They touch that thing once and they won't ever try it again even if the fence isn't on!!They don't shed all the time but usually twice annually. So about two times a year they will shed alot then stop for 6 months. They are strong willed and due to this fact are sometimes hard to train but they are very willing to please. They breed and whelp very easily as they were bred for strength. They have about 6-9 pups a litter. They are a delightful family pet. Over all for this pet to be ideal make sure you can give it attention, love, lots of exercise, a firm, gently guiding hand, and about two weeks a year for grooming. They are very good with kids and seem to know they are to be gentle. One thing I have learned from my dogs is the more attention and love they get the better they behave and the easier they train. Bye! Tanisha(Husky lover:)
